The brief was to be sympathetic to the age and area, but contemporary and fundamentally our home. David took our brief and enhanced -by discussion- virtually every aspect of the design and build. “Kate and the q2 Architects team absolutely exceeded our expectations during our build and we're really pleased with the result. She took time to understand how we may need the house to flow within the plot and through the existing house, and created the double and single extension and reconfiguration of our small cottage in a village conservation area to double the existing footprint and create a home we love. Kate was approachable and considerate throughout the process and had a great blend of clever ideas for creating a functional space, as well as for interesting details to enhance the wow factor of the house which we would never have thought of. This was a big project for us and it needed to be right and from the from initial ideas, drawing up our concept design, assisting with the planning application and then hands on support and overview through the build process, Kate was meticulous with details needed for the smooth running of the build and we had absolute confidence that she was keeping a close eye on things throughout. She was also great at working with the builders to ensure that we both met with the necessary building regulations and spotting things on site if they weren't quite right so that the build was of the highest quality. “Dane was recommended to me through a mutual friend. Very approachable, friendly and willing to help. He arranged a site visit, listened to our ideas then went away to put it all together on paper including 3D illustrations which gave a excellent realistic vision of what we were aiming to achieve. With his vast knowledge, he gave us alternative ideas to which we decided to go with the option of a full height vaulted ceiling allowing for larger skylight on stairwell creating much more bright open space. Dane also supplied us full construction drawings, dealt with building control and any queries they had right up to the start of the build. He has also been on hand with any questions we’ve had during the build. He was very prompt will all the plans throughout and fees are reasonably priced. “We had a fantastic experience using Nick and his team on our self build new home. Right from the first concept / feasability meetings his knowledge and flare were endering. Nick is a very likeable chap who installed belief in my wife and I to take some chances on design that other architects that we met failed to come close. He managed to hit our brief but also managed to go further and designed spaces within our home that we would never have imagned ourselves like our full hight internal aspects. Even now as we are pretty much complete 2 or 3 years on we catch angles and lines of sight that I know Nick intended all along in his design its only now as we use the building for different functions with our family and the sun floods though the house that we truly appreciate his hard efforts. We have neighbours pass by on their evening walks that constantly thank us for what we've done to the street and increased the valus of their own homes - this is mainly down to Nicks design and us sticking to his specification.”
