The studio is primarily focused on contemporary design, but it takes care to stay free of a specific style-driven mindset. This allows us to respond as readily to a brief that seeks an innovative approach, as it does when asked to respect the existing style of a much loved period home; or, occasionally, for example, when asked to integrate with an unfamiliar foreign architecture overseas. Its core concerns are, rather, the more fundamental issues that drive all good design: function; scale; proportion; the optimal choice of materials and finishes; and, today, a rigorous commitment to a sustainable approach that informs everything from an optimal design strategy to the finishing details of a project's final realisation on site. We believe that only this approach that can drive the best contemporary design, and it is the optimal resolution of all these issues to the specific needs of every client that the practice strives to achieve.
