We are an independent family design business first established in 2010. We maintain our strong links and collaborations within our local community, the building industry, and associated artistic, craft and artisan trades. Our principal director is a building designer with over 25 years of design-led practice experience in North West based chartered RIBA architect and RICS studios. He has developed and designed ambitious short-listed and award-winning projects; culminating in a recent regional RIBA North West ‘Seven Cities’ and ‘Conservation’ Awards (2012) when co-director of the Kendal based design practice then known as O’Neil & Petrie Ltd. Petrie Design has developed diverse portfolio in the private residential, commercial, ecclesiastical and cultural sectors. Our commissions are private, and with a client range from the domestic to commercial. As a rural small-practice, we can provide the expertise, attention and close-working with our clients, to develop a brief into an innovative, well-crafted, and cost effective design. The common factor in each of our projects is considered and careful attention to detail. Our building design processes are informed by traditional techniques, sustainable design, and the possibilities offered by modern materials and fabrication methods.
