Alix Edwards is a multi-platform artist who uses fiction, spoken word, painting and photography to tell untold stories about motherhood, loss, domestic violence and resilience.
Her work gives a voice to women and children who society has silenced or ignored.
Alix Edwards has exhibited in the UK, Barcelona and USA. She is part of the Literature Wales 2022-23 cohort for Representing Wales, Generously funded by the Arts Council of Wales, she recently researched lives of women who ended up in Magdalene Laundry-like institutions. Alix’s work has shown in England and Wales including Artcore Derby, 198 Gallery, g39, Bath Fringe, Bloomsbury Festival, AOTH, Cwtsh Gallery in Newport, Cardiff Made, Truman Brewery, Angus Hughes, Oxford House, The Laundry, The Gate, The Russian Club and has appeared in various publications including Lucent Dreaming, The London Reader and Haus-a-rest zine.
Alix has an MA in Creative Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London and graduated in MA Photography from Central Saint Martin's in 2016. She lives in Cardiff and facilitates art and creative writing projects, including for Women’s Aid. In 2018 she founded Company of Words open mic and guest events, which received special mention in Saboteur Awards 2020.
