About Us

I’m a bit of a concrete nerd - I am passionate about creating beautiful surfaces and products out of polished concrete. I started Conscious Forms in 2004, after studying furniture design at degree and Masters level. My first commission was to design furniture for an industrial style bar, concrete was the perfect material and I have loved it ever since! Conscious Forms creates “Conscious functional concrete forms” of an architectural nature - we are known for casting concrete in-situ, enabling us to create large seamless concrete to any shape or form, it’s versatility and aesthetics makes it the perfect material to bring a bespoke design statement in to your home, and is particularly good material for bespoke kitchen worktops. A lot of our projects involve working on polished concrete worktops for new build kitchen extensions, that have a rich array of other materials which helps the concrete to shine. Having a new kitchen extension opens up a new opportunity for creativity with concrete surfaces and we can help clients to make informed creative decisions - the ecstatic response I receive from clients when they see their very own concrete design piece is priceless - Give me a call to create yours! I run a pottery studio in Hackney Wick and I needed a wedging bench top where I can prepare my clay. I already had a plaster one but i wanted another one in concrete that would not absorb water from the clay. Junior had very nice sample blocks to see different effects and colours to choose from. Junior understood what I needed and the concrete slab was delivered on time. It is beautiful as well as great to prepare my clay to the consistently that I need. He is great to work with and i will not hesitate to recommend him for any concrete jobs!

I first met Junior a few years back at a furniture design fair and its hard not to like him — from the off I could tell he's a craftsman with a deep understanding and knowledge of the material he works with. Ive always found him generous, accommodating and erudite to work with and because of this I have a few Conscious Forms pieces in and around my home. It started with a sturdy and elegant precast concrete cube light. Over the years Ive purchased 2 mirrors w/concrete surrounds (one of which was typographically etched to spec) and a chain of garden lights. I constantly refer him to colleagues and friends for various concrete related projects —which says everything you need to know.

I contracted Junior to create two concrete hearthstones for our living room to my replace old with something modern and contemporary. He produced highly polished and individual focal point to our new living room. Junior is very professional in approach to the job and worked quickly and in a manner that was open and communicative at every stage of the job. I would not hesitate to use him again on any project in the future and would recommend him wholeheartedly.

Our project was a poured in-situ kitchen worktop and island. From the moment Junior arrived on site we were impressed, for a start he brought his own hoover and many other workers on our extension seemed to deem clearing up after themselves below them. Junior's passion for all things concrete seems to spread throughout his team. The attention to detail and commitment to process ensured everything ran perfectly smoothly, and it was a joy to witness that same process unfold before us. He was very explicit with his own requirements, what he needed to be done around him, when, what preparations were needed, which meant we had no issues at all with timings, quality, end result. We are so happy with the end results. We hope the photos speak for themselves, but it is a definite highlight of our extension. Thank you Junior!

We had two concrete fire hearths made for out living room, the work was carried out in a very professional manner and care was taken with out existing interior. They worked around our other contractors who were on site and working to tight deadlines. I would whole heartedly recconend Concious forms to do a great job and offer a bespoke service with great communication.

Junior installed an in situ polished concrete worktop for us and the whole process was extraordinary from start to finish. The finished result is stunning - the depth and variety of colour within the surface is remarkable. The finished result isn't even comparable to the concrete pieces that others cast offsite which look like they could have been made of anything. It's impossible to walk past it without wanting to stroke it! It feels like a piece of art in its own right and is well worth the cost. Highly recommended.

After deciding on a concrete worktop for our new kitchen extension and finding out our design required a casting in situ we chose Junior at ConsciousForms. We were impressed by his previous work and how he explained the process to us. We were extremely impressed by the level of detail and attention employed by Junior and his team during all of the project but especially during the prep, formwork and mix stages They also spent many hours polishing and sealing which ensured we obtained a superior quality of finish. At all times during the project Junior and his team were approachable and informative and were keen to share their knowledge. The work is not only functional it is a statement piece of art that has definitely added that "wow" factor to our build. I would have no hesitation in recommending Junior and his work if you require a high quality finish from someone who is passionate about his work and medium.

We hired Conscious Forms to lay concrete worktops in situ in our kitchen. From start to finish, Junior and his team were extremely professional, worked closely with us and listened to what we wanted, adding in their knowledge and skills set when needed to help produce a bespoke product. The end result was perfect and we now have the wow factor worktops we dreamed of. We have also been pleased with the follow up care Conscious Forms have provided. Conscious Forms: We engaged conscious forms to cast a concrete half, within a downstairs restoration project in a Georgian town house Junior is a both a perfectionist in the way he works, and polishes cast concrete, but he is also a scientist, enabling us to choose from his sensitive colour palette. This is something the builder thought he could do himself, but we are so pleased we brought in the professional's.
