I have been familiar with the art of Gary Phillips for fifteen years. When you talk with Gary you immediately recognize his wide knowledge base of British history .This artist has a need to have his global community feel and touch history through his artifact inspired creations, thus keeping history alive and personal. Recently I had the opportunity to follow Gary's process from beginning to final presentation. Gary enthusiastically scans the beach respectfully returning only with the pieces for which he has a vision. Some pieces are selected to be displayed as a group in a shadow box to be hung on a wall . Selected individual pieces are tailored for his signature jewelry collection. There is something exciting about wearing a piece of history as an accessory, to generate a conversation in day to day life. The shadow boxes, showcasing porcelain dolls, old pottery , nails and clay pipes ,the utilization of metal printing stamps discarded from newspaper businesses to generate whimsical necklaces , the crafted paint rubbings of N.Y.C. manhole canvas wallhangings, only begin to show the range of artistic expression without boundaries Gary demonstrates. . I have enjoyed displaying the Items I have acquired in my home as they have been appreciated by both friends and family.

Part archaeologist part artist. He takes discarded artifacts, the banal debris of life through the ages and showpieces it it to reflect the beauty therein. His eye for the pieces he chooses and then composition is simple on the face of it, but compelling somehow. I love his stuff.

Gary the ThamesArtist, is a pleasure to deal with and always delivers. His art is creative, elegant, inspiring, cerebral and sui generis. Each piece of ThamesArt has a interesting story. I own several pieces of ThamesArt and aside from my own joy, they always derive significant fascination and interest from friends and visitors, many of whom ask me who the artist is, where they can get it, and/or will I sell it to them. While I am always happy to share information about the artist and where they can get some of their own unique pieces of ThamesArt, I will never sell my own pieces..they are too unique and valuable. Gary's pieces are well composed, thoughtful and creative. Each creation is a true work of art and has a story to tell. I have given many of his works as gifts and kept a few for myself. It is like gifting a slice of history. Each piece was carefully package, described in detail and arrived promptly. Beautiful beyond words!
