CLARISSA PARISH
Artists and Craftsmen in Ludgershall, Wiltshire
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars13 October 2020
“Mural by Clarissa Parish I have planned my new Orangery for 20 years, the base went down in 2007 and I knew exactly what I wanted but never thought about a mural until I understood that Clarissa had moved into the village. What she painted was beyond my wildest dreams. I said that I wanted a sub tropical forest along the whole of the back wall – she produced two or three designs, we agreed and she started to paint. It was as if she was doing it in a trance – there seemed to be no effort and what appeared happened very quickly and very beautifully. As we moved along, I made some suggestions – how about a gorilla, a kingfisher overlooking my fish tank – each time they were painted life size and in perfect detail. I think she is probably in Harry Potter as she is a magician! Everyone who comes to the Orangery marvels at the beauty of what she has created. Most certainly recommend her services. “Just fantastic! We were presented with a wonderful illustration of our granddaughter that perfectly captured both her appearance and much more illusively her playful personality. A picture that's loved by family and friends alike. A totally professional service through every stage from discussion right through to the proofs that we were able to tweak before we received the final print. We would not hesitate in recommending Higgledy Ink!”

“I bought a limited edition piece of art (photographs of a Washington Fire Hydrant) from Hilary Stock to hang at home. It was beautifully put together and the framing is top quality. I have enjoyed it hanging in my kitchen every day since.”

“Do you wish to be involved and consulted fully in the creation of your own art work? If so, then Mark Jones should be one of your chosen artists. Mark interviewed me sensitively, to discover precise details of the story that I wanted included in my commissioned painting. The vibrant colours in the painting encapsulated the landscape of the Green Spain of my memories. In another commissioned work for me, Mark explored heraldic forms, meanings and colours to create a striking painting of a vintage bicycle. Do you want art work which can be enjoyed in a home and not just in a gallery? Mark uses strong colour and bold images to paint clear, lyrical stories. He has painted stories of Roman amphitheatres, of cafés in Tuscany, of cafes in Hampshire’s New Forest and of the simple pleasure of dog walking.”

“We had a number fo run down garages on the Barnsbury Estate where youths were hanging around and causing anti-social behaviour. The garages were at the rear of the youth club so I decided to repair them, paint them and do the garage numbers in a graffiti style. The idea was to get the youth involved in anti-social behaviour to help paint the garages. A multi-agency project between Community Payback, Surrey Probation Service, Neighbourhood Services, Youth Services, Surrey Police and New Vision Homes was organised so the look of the area could be improved. I contacted Kev and he replied promptly and once we had agreed a price he sent me an outline of the designs for each garage. Kev was charming and polite and his designs were colourful and quirky. The event was held on 29 July 2013 and was attended by members of the Community Safety Team and the local Councillor. Kev was great with the kids and they responded well to him as he showed them the correct way to use a spray can. The project was nominated for a TPAS 'Excellence in Youth Involvement Award'. Kev is very polite, courteous, hard working and talented. His designs are quirky, bold and playful and he was an excellent choice for this project. He has also worked with us at one of our Residents Days where he did an art project with some of the kids. I'm sure I will be working with him again”
