Littlewood Architecture
Eco Home Professionals in Broadstairs, Kent
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars19 December 2018
“Great to see that architect does not just mean someone drawing up fancy designs, but rather someone that investigates heavily what is possible and where the restrictions are, and then thinks up nice designs based on it. I can very much recommend Littlewood Architecture.”

“Great vision and initial design work that Michael then follows up with diligent and accurate technical drawings and attention to detail. He has a good understanding and empathy for his clients' needs and their realistic budget. Our project is nearing the end and will totally transform our property.”
Miriam Layton Architectural Design

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars14 November 2016
“Miriam has been a brilliant architect for us. We hired her to design a 3 bed, 2 storey extension. We thought we already knew what we wanted in terms of layout and look, but she came back with a number of really exciting ideas that transformed our fairly mundane ideas into really exciting, but affordable designs. We had a number of difficulties with planning, none of them Miriam's fault, causing her to have to revise key details without losing the essence of what we wanted (lots of light and space). She was really succesful and we're really pleased with the outcome. We were very naive about the whole building process before starting the project and Miriam has held our hands throughout and been a fantastic support.”

“SEAS were very professional and worked to a very high standard. They provided us with plans for an extension, they were finished promptly and at a very reasonable price. When they came to see us they went above and beyond helping us tweak what we wanted, to get the best overall outcome. I would definitely recommend their excellent service.”

Prince & Gisbey Architects

“We found Prince & Gisbey through a recommendation; we were looking for a young, local architectural practice to guide us through a proposed re-modelling and extension to our recently-purchased 60's bungalow. Matt Gisbey came and visited, talked through in depth our ideas and wishes, and returned a week or two later with his thoughts on paper. We immediately liked some aspects of his design, and realised the value of bringing in a professional. Not everything suggested was to our taste, but between us in the intervening weeks, we honed the plans to achieve a balance between the practical and the aesthetic that would enhance our home and our enjoyment of it, whilst preserving and adding to the character of the property. Due to the coronavirus lockdown, some meetings have been conducted online, with Matt showing us very effective 3D computer generated images that really help to make the project come alive. We are very relaxed with the result, and plans have been submitted for local authority approval. Matt has moved on to the next stage, of detailing all the services, finishes, specifications, etc and to agreeing with us the locating and appointing of suitable building regs consultant and structural engineers. It is reassuring to have his guidance in these matters. As this review is written, no building work has commenced, so I cannot comment on the final outcome yet. However, we have enjoyed the process to date, Matt has followed a logical sequence to get to this point, and has always listened to our ideas, even if he has had to gently point out the practical difficulties of achieving them! We generally have found a good compromise and moved on. Matt himself is personable and good company, and has taken a close interest in our project. We expect to work with him through to the completion, and would recommend his calm, friendly but professional approach to anyone considering using an architect for similar work.”

“Andrew linked our 60s maisonette to the garages below. Here's why we hired him, and how it turned out: 1. Listening: We interviewed six (!) architects and he took most account of us, our tastes and how we live, rather than trying to foist a grand plan on us. It felt like a creative partnership not a takeover. 2. Focus on small details: Our project hinged on where to put the stairs. Andrew took us to another project, where he'd included an upstairs bathroom in a tiny cottage by moving the stairs. He'd thought it through in fine detail and it worked. 3. Sensitive to the architecture of the house, bringing back its mid-century vibe. 4. Budget conscious: Andrew worked with us to bring down costs. 5. Endlessly patient: Andrew was very tolerant of our questions, changes of mind and changes to the plan. Nothing was too much trouble. 6. Good with the planners: we had no trouble at all with our application for a side extension in a conservation area. 7, Lovely clean, contemporary aesthetic: the result looks great: simple mid-century modernism with a scandi edge. We are thrilled with the result and would work with Andrew again.”
