Listen All projects start by listening to the specific needs of the client, to ensure that we can bring to you a truly bespoke, individual piece of furniture, kitchen or interior, that is aesthetic but also fit for purpose. Throughout this important stage, communication is vital, and we work closely with you, discussing all the options available. Sample sections are produced as and when required so we can be certain that the appropriate combination of materials are used. Create We offer a wealth of knowledge and experience with our trades as cabinet makers and architectural joiners. We have strong and valued relationships with other highly skilled trades that complement our work - metal, stone, paint effects - all of which help uphold the exacting standards and bespoke service that we bring to all of our clients. Support Each project is delivered and installed with the minimum amount of disruption, working with the client to make sure the quality of service is maintained to the very end. But we don’t wish our relationship to end upon completion of a project, we value long lasting relationships with all of our clients however frequent we may work together.

Tom Graham Workshop is a bespoke furniture and cabinetmaking workshop working in Somerset and London. We work with architects, designers, businesses and domestic clients to create beautiful, well-crafted pieces that fit our clients' needs perfectly. Tom Graham Tom trained as an architect at Liverpool University and London Metropolitan under David Grandorge and Florian Beigel. Wanting to pursue a more hands-on career but continuing to work with great designers, he side-stepped architecture by way of furniture making, working early on -- and to this day -- with many of his architectural contemporaries. He is passionate about intelligent, honest and delightful use of materials, believing strongly in integrity of design and making. His background in architecture combined with his hands-on experience make him uniquely placed to realise designers' aspirations and clients' dreams. The Process We work with clients who have never commissioned bespoke work and with designers who regularly do so. We are as happy designing spaces and furniture from scratch as we are resolving the fine material detail of an architect's construction drawings. Please get in touch to discuss how we can bring your idea into reality.

I am an independent cabinet maker working within the Devon, Somerset and Dorset areas with a wealth of experience in making free standing and fitted furniture for private clients. After a career change in 1992 I took a year out to undertake a full time furniture making and design course at the prestigious ‘Rycotewood’ college in Thame, Oxfordshire. I then took employment with a local furniture maker to start my ‘on the job’ training. This lasted until 2000 when (with my young family) I moved to Devon. In 2003 I started my own small business. My passion for the use of local English, or at least British, timber started very early on in my work. I believe the timber has more character and obviously the carbon footprint is much reduced compered to imported species. My workshop is located five miles from Honiton and within the beautiful 'Blackdown Hills' which straddle the borders of East Devon and Somerset. My working practice takes me to clients’ homes to discuss the various options open to them. Then after initial design and costs are agreed a commission is undertaken. I will design, make, finish, deliver and fit, if necessary, personally. I believe in continuity from start to finish.

I design and hand make unique, contemporary furniture using my own stunning local hard woods. In 2012 I founded Jim Tory Furniture, setting up my own workshop in a old stone dairy just outside Dorchester, Dorset where I was born and bred. For the 7 years prior to this I had the pleasure of working with the acclaimed Norwegian designer –maker Petter Southall at his Itre studio (link) near Bridport. After completing an apprenticeship I worked as a cabinet maker creating his inspirational and technically challenging steam bent furniture. I not only honed my skills and gained invaluable experience but developed a deep understanding of wood itself and the seemingly limitless ways it can be put together to create beautiful furniture for every-day use. Prior to this I trained in fine furniture making with master craftsman Chris Faulkner (link) at his Ashridge workshop in rural Devon. Here I gained a firm grounding in core traditional cabinet making skills and the uncompromising standards that are needed to succeed at our craft. I have been seasoning my own Hard-woods for the past 5 years, all the trees having fallen within 10 miles of the workshop and if nature allows this is how I intend to continue sourcing my timber.

We are a partnership of furniture designer-makers. We find inspiration through craft itself: the processes and techniques of making and the results that can be achieved through combining traditional and modern. It is our intention that everything we make will long outlast us; achieving sustainability though longevity. Our work is contemporary in style, favouring clean lines and unadorned surfaces to create pieces that are bold yet understated. We draw on our own experiences as creative individuals with different aesthetic values and cultural backgrounds and share an inquisitive streak that drives us to experiment with new materials and techniques.
