About Us

Cary Smith is a fully qualified bespoke cabinet maker, with over 14 years experience in the high end furniture manufacturing business. He works from his small home workshop in Highams Park, North East London, taking on work ranging from bespoke fitted wardrobes and alcove units, to radiator cabinets, bookcases and bespoke fitted kitchens. All work is made entirely from scratch, giving customers ultimate flexibility and control in making their vision a reality. Cary uses a combination of traditional joinery techniques and modern materials, and makes unique designs based around each customers home, achieving an extremely high-quality finish which will stand the test of time, as well as a piece which truly belongs in the room.

Cary from Walthamstow Woodworking was a pleasure to deal with. From turning up on time and being well presented and polite at the first appointment, I can't recommend him enough. He kept us up to date throughout the design and build process. When he came to install the alcove bookcases and cupboards he worked very neatly and cleared up well at the end of each day. We are really happy with the end result, they've been installed for a while now and are still looking a working beautifully. A true Pro!

Cary did a wonderful job building custom made floor-to-ceiling alcove shelving for our sitting room and a perfectly sized and shaped floor-to-ceiling storage cupboard to fit into a narrow space in our utility room. Cary was highly professional at all times, a careful listener, sensitive to our needs and creative and responsive to even our more eccentric requirements. The work is of exceptionally high quality and we are very satisfied with it.

We're over the moon with our wardrobes. Cary is an absolute perfectionist, a real professional and extremely tidy & respectful of the rest of the house whilst carrying his tools in and out. You really do get what you pay for! Cannot recommend enough. Thank you :)

Carey built some lovely alcove bookshelves with backlit LED lights atop some cupboards. To one side of the chimney breast between bookshelves and cupboard he also build a hidden office space which when the doors are opened i have my monitor, laptop and pull out draw for the keyboard and mouse. Very professional work, & Carey is very pleasant to deal with. Definitely would recommend Carey at Walthamstow Woodworking.

I cannot recommend Cary highly enough. He has undertaken two projects for us - a pair of bespoke alcove cabinets and a pair of fitted bedroom wardrobes (including internal drawers). He nailed the brief on both, creating beautiful pieces which he finished to the highest standard. He is professional and friendly and very tidy. We would definitely use him again on any carpentry projects.

Cary was faultless. He built shelves in the alcoves in my sitting room which are superb and have really helped to transform the room. It was a pleasure having him work here - he was clean/tidy, punctual and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to ask him to do work for me again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others. Cary did a brilliant job building us some bespoke loft wardrobes. He was a real pleasure to work with, listened to what we needed and had great ideas for finishes and details. He was such a professional and the quality of the joinery and paint surfaces is fantastic. Highly recommended!
