Marcus carefully designs and hand crafts bespoke solid wood fitted and free standing furniture to your specification. This includes fitted kitchens, cabinets, home office solutions, staircases, built-in space saving wardrobes, book-cases, alcove units, TV and media cabinets, laundry cupboards, larders, bathroom units, home-office furniture, bedroom furniture, under-stair storage, internal and external doors, gates and other domestic joinery items. Colne River Woodworks is joinery with a conscience. Ensuring that all work is ethical and sustainable is central to Colne River Woodworks philosophy.

Using reclaimed wood is suitable for some projects. As our joinery items are unique and custom-made we are not able to offer a price list. Marcus created me a unique wooden kitchen, and coped fantastically with all my "unusual" requests - I wanted a higher than usual worktop, no pedestals/kickboards just chunky feet, some of the tree bark left on the edge of the worktop and a double-width peninsula housing the hob and work surfaces! In addition to the drawers and cupboards in the peninsula, Marcus built me a run of units to house the ovens and the refurbished oversized sink, and made a funky shaped shelf to fit around the bottom of the staircase, which otherwise would have been wasted space. He also put two lots of shelves in to make the best use of my alcoves. Marcus really listened to the ideas and hopes I had for the kitchen and managed to bring it all to life successfully, sourcing beautiful Elm and London Plane which grow more interesting as time passes. Everyone who visits says my kitchen is a really special space now, and much of the credit for that has to go to Marcus' craftmanship and his consideration as a worker - I would be more than happy to recommend him for your own project.

Marcus was set the challenge of replacing a wooden staircase in a confined space with a new one. Through his thoughtful planning and accurate carpentry work we have a beautifully completed staircase much admired by others. We would totally recommend him.

Couple of jobs completed, one in hard wood and one in soft wood. Both completed to an high standard and within timescales discussed. Dealt with in a professional and polite manner. Would recommend to others and fully intend to use for other projects when the current problems are re-solved (covid).

A floor to ceiling large book case, with 5 shelves plus cupboards below, in ash. Made to go along one wall of a study. It is well finished and fits in beautifully. Despite lockdown i was kept informed of progress. I am very pleased with the finished item.

Marcus is a wonderful craftsman! He has now made 2 sets of oak shelves/cupboard for our alcoves in our Victorian house lounge, and also bifold wooden doors to divide our lounger/dining room. He is efficient, reliable, trust-worthy and has done some wonderful work for us. We're just considering what other jobs we have for him!
