About Us

At Gavin Capel Studio I design and hand make one-off pieces of furniture to commission. Whether you're looking for a boardroom table, a future family heirloom, a beautiful gift or something special, I can help you bring your ideas to life. Following a successful career as cabinet maker for different companies I set up Gavin Capel Studio and focus on the design and making of bespoke furniture. I like to combine traditional and modern techniques to create furniture that will last for generations to come, and with my comprehensive experience of developing projects with clients, I can work with you to realise your own idea for that special piece of furniture. Gavin Capel designed, built and installed some rather special cupboards for us. I liked the way he was quickly able to understand our various ideas for the project and advise us on the best course of action. He was utterly reliable, which is always a godsend when people work in your home. We are delighted with the result.

We hired Gavin to build a custom shelf unit for a hole that we had in our bathroom wall. We were looking for something with a removable shelf and the bottom of the unit so that we could access the toilet cistern. Gavin made us a beautiful shelf unit and the bottom shelf that comes out to access the toilet blends in so well! Really pleased with his work and would have him out again if we had another project that needed doing.

Very professional and friendly service, excellent bespoke fitted pieces of furniture for the living room. Communication was extremely good. The work included a large piece of furniture for a complicated audio system, and there was quite a bit of dialogue needed to design in concealed cabling. Some of the routing needed only became obvious to me during the build, and great patience, enthusiasm and craftsmanship was demonstrated by Mr Capel in accommodating these late amendments. I am very happy to recommend Mr Capel's work, and intend to commission him again to build more furniture for us in the future.

Gavin recently built a tv unit for an alcove, at my home. He was very thorough from start to finish, and I was thrilled with them end result. I would highly recommend him. The unit is beautiful and built to a very high standard

Gavin built some alcove units and shelves for us. We are very happy with the work that Gavin did for us. He is extremely professional and is also a perfectionist. We also changed our minds a few times which was not a problem for Gavin. I would highly recommend Gavin.
