Jonathan Lear Furniture

Jonathan is clearly passionate about his work. We received scaled drawings so you can really imagine how it would look in the space and good suggestions for ways to improve the wardrobe design that we put to him. The ability to colour match spray lacquer to popular paint brands led us to opting for something much bolder than the original design. Installation was painless and carried out in a considerate manner. Most importantly, the end product is fantastic and has exceeded our expectations!! It's our favourite piece of furniture!

We have worked with Jonathan Lear on many occasions over the past 10 years. He has designed, made and fitted cupboards and shelves in a lounge, a fitted bedroom for a young teenager, fitted wardrobes, storage cupboards, two fitted studies and an entire hallway. The fact that we have kept going back to him is testament to his meticulous eye for detail, commitment to high quality, and innovative and workable design solutions which have been needed in an old house. He is pleasant and thoughtful to work with, and takes care that the client is really happy with the design. He sticks to time frames, and manages expectations well if this is impossible for reasons beyond his control. He isn't cheap (note: the figure below represents our total spend with him, not the cost of one project!) or prepared to do a rushed job - but if you're going to live in a space for a while it's worth taking the time to do things right and to pay for quality. We are currently talking to him about a final piece of work, after which nearly every room in our house will have something he's created in it...

To date Jonathan has built 4 sets of eaves cupboard doors, Two bedroom wardrobes and he has just completed a cupboard and bookcase for my partners study. Jonathan is meticulous in his planning and once the client has accepted a quote he produces a very accurate cad drawing of the project. Once the drawing is accepted Jonathan prepares and make the furniture in his own workshop [which is a paradise for anyone interested both in wood and machines]. On every occasion that Jonathan has come to the house we have found him to be methodical in his approach to the final fitting , very clean and his final cutting and build of the project is an absolute pleasure to the eye. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Jonathans workmanship together with the overall quality of the furniture which he produces.

Jonathan made a fitted bookcase for our living room. He visited us at home to take measurements, talk through our ideas and offer suggestions, so we could come up with a design together. He sent through 3D drawings along with an accurate quote and timescale. We are very happy with the final result! The bookcase/cabinet looks great and is well made. Jonathan has a good eye for design and detail, and is a skilled, polite and tidy craftsman.

As an interior designer, I have worked alongside Jonathan on a number of projects. His work is of the highest quality and he always delivers on time and within the allotted budget. I would highly recommend his services.
