We work with our clients and their homes, covering all aspects of interior and exterior joinery and builds. From orangeries to the conservation of traditional housing fixtures to bespoke staircases, our team work tirelessly to make the project journey seamless and we consistently produce stunning finished results. Though we are based in Down we undertake much of our work in England and most especially London - where we are on hand with our team constantly. Now to our history - as a quantity surveyor David Clarke always had a passion for historical architecture, with a particular love for the joinery used in period properties. So when, forty years ago, the opportunity arose to purchase a small joinery company in Banbridge, Co Down, David and his wife Alison took the gamble of their lives, bought the company, and soon after DASK Timber opened its doors. Our family has been in the business for 40 years: your home deserves quality products that will last even longer. Our high-quality materials, skilled craftsmen and excellent service mean that you get the best timber products available throughout Britain and Ireland. We’ve also been able to expand: we now employ 22 skilled craftsmen and have built a 27,000 sq ft purpose-made premises, with state-of-the-art CNC production equipment. Everyone who works with us shares the unrelenting attention to detail and quality, both in the finished products and in client care, which embody the passion and commitment of the DASK approach. Over the years we have updated glazing and weather-proofing materials, but otherwise we are proud to say our traditional sliding sash is the same timber window we manufactured in 1973. As then, our priority is still to provide a quality product that is tailor-made to suit each of our client’s needs, yet remaining sympathetic to the integrity of the building. With an eye on the future, we offer the best in environmentally-aware design and materials for your home; we also use energy-efficient machinery in our factory in Banbridge, which is heated using recycled wood shavings. When you work with us, you know that your property - whether traditional or modern, refurbished or new, or your own unique combination - will be enhanced in value and appearance for decades to come.
Quality Log Houses with attention to detail... “The idea was not to build yet one more beautiful, typical house. The focus was... to erect a home... Adapting folk architecture... And yet be confident that it will effectively protect from storms , gales and the cold, that it will possess the full range of comforts, yet be simultaneously beautiful...” — Stanislaw Witkiewicz (Architect)

Oldtown Joinery is a family owned specialist joinery business which has since 1992 been involved in the design, manufacture and installation of the finest quality hand-built bespoke staircases. Established in 1992 by Sean Diamond, we specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of the finest quality hand-built, bespoke staircases. We have a growing local and international reputation for creating exquisite staircases that will add elegance and grace to any home. While other manufacturers have increased computerisation and mass production in their building methods, restricting the element of individuality in the finished product, we have retained the traditional ideals of craftsmanship giving our stairs a distinctive look, as each one is a unique creation. Over the years we have established strong working relationships with architects, designers, builders and materials’ suppliers, which allow us to manage projects large and small with the client’s design requirements as the driving force. Today we are instantly recognisable in the specialist joinery industry and in particular for intricate curved and straight staircases throughout Ireland. One of our most demanding projects to date was to build a near-replica of the Titanic’s beautiful staircase for the Titanic Building in Belfast. We could relate to many of the production methods used by the craftsmen of Harland and Wolff Shipyard as they are reflected in our everyday processes at Oldtown Joinery. The Titanic’s original staircase is arguably one of the most famous staircases in the world, certainly in maritime history and the creation of the Grand Staircase has established our reputation as one of the leading manufacturers in hand-built, bespoke staircases, not just in Ireland and in the UK but on a global stage.
