Timber Workshop is an award winning carpentry company based in south Devon, working across the UK. Our work is primarily rooted in structural timber framing, both traditional and contemporary, using softwoods and hardwoods. We embrace ambitious, design led projects across all scales - from furniture and joinery, to pavilions and buildings. Timber Workshop was formed in 2016 by Alex Thomas - a qualified Architect and carpenter. This dual training imbues the company with a strong understanding of design and construction. We are able to work closely with clients and architects on a range of timber frame projects, and can provide technical knowledge and specialist advice at all stages. We have a passion for building, and enjoy developing an open way of working that allows us to realise ambitious, design-led projects in a collaborative manner. We build in a range of environments, yet we strongly believe in the benefits of workshop fabrication. Construction in a controlled environment enhances build quality, programme assurance and safety, whilst limiting site time and waste. We look to blend carpentry skills from all scales, transferring skills from furniture making across to structural framing, and use a workshop approach and tooling to achieve this. We are experienced site installers. We typically undertake a full site survey before commencing fabrication, and prefer to install our products ourselves. We are not limited to pre-fabricated structural carpentry, and also undertake a full range of site carpentry, from framing and cladding, to second fix interiors and kitchen installations.
