“We renovated an old smallholding cottage in Cornwall last year. The property is 1800's granite construction, and has small north facing windows to the front. At the rear of the property we replaced an old flat roof timber sunroom, and needed to find a solution to replacing it while maximising the light into the interior of the house. The space between the top of the ground floor windows and the 1st floor windowsills was very limited, so it was a challenge to find a solution that worked well. We opted for a orangery style roof lantern. The David Salisbury designed everything for us, as the engineering was quite tricky due to the construction of the original building and the limited space available. The project went without a hitch, everything was designed and delivered according to schedule, and fitted very professionally. Everyone who visits the house comments on the kitchen roof lantern, and we get lots of appreaciation for the wooden construction, it really complements the house.”
