“We recently bought our first home and it has been quite the undertaking. It was in need of a full remodel but we were willing to put in the time and the money because the lot was beautiful and provided the lifestyle only the country could give our family. Even though we are surrounded by trees and our neighbors aren't near by I still felt uncomfortable having nothing on the windows at night. So I talked my husband into one last investment to make our home feel more comfortable. Budget Blinds gave us an appointment quickly and worked around our schedule. They brought over a wide variety of samples at all price ranges and helped advise us what would really complete our look! The install was quick and they look absolutely beautiful. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
