“Better Blinds came out to install blinds for my 10 windows and slider door. I met with Dave who proved to be very knowledgeable about his product and provided excellent insight on which window treatment to select. Once the order was placed, he kept me updated on the status of the order. When the product arrived to his warehouse, he came out and did a great job installing. He had a very clean and professional appearance, was friendly to talk with, and thoroughly tested the product before leaving. I shopped around quite a bit to find a good price and Better Blinds proved to be the most cost effective and delivered a premium service. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
