“We first worked with Jody Trovall of Interior View Window Fashions when she assisted us with window treatments for all of our windows. She was so helpful with extensive experience. Jody made an overwhelming process fun and easy. It was such a great experience that a year later we again hired Jody to help us select a new tile floor for our hall, kitchen, and front entry. Another overwhelming task for us so it was Jody to the rescue again! She helped us pick out a great tile that we absolutely love. We look at our window treatments and tile floor and have fond memories of Jody. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
