“When I asked Diane Sherman, owner of Window Designs by Diane, to assist with my window treatment needs for a new home I was purchasing, she responded immediately and we set up a consultation within 24 hours. Diane asked many questions I would not have necessarily considered myself - such as my future design plans for each room - to help guide her in making the best recommendations. She also was very respectful of my budgetary requirements and gave me GREAT options that suited all of my needs. Her installer was very professional - prompt, skilled and good foliow-up when he didn't hear back from me after his first voice mail message. I truly felt like Diane cared about me as a customer and would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. I'm also a small business owner and Diane installed custom window treatments for my storefront. I could say all of the same comments for my work with her and her installer for that project as well. Highly recommended!”

“I had never used Judy or Willow's service before and hired them to provide window treatments for every room in my house - including the garage. Every step of the way was such a positive experience and I felt Judy's assistance with fabric choices and styles to be invaluable. I purchased roman shades, wooden blinds, a valance, draperies, a curtain rod and even some matching throw pillows with coordinating fringe. That required extremely detailed measurements and attention to detail, but they were up to the task and performed flawlessly. The installation was fun - yes, fun - and without any issues. The quality of the products is excellent. I was quite impressed and will only use their (and Judy's) services in the future.”

“I was tired of the blinds that I had in the dining room. They were hard to adjust, they were always bending, and little pieces kept breaking off. In the past I had never spent much money on any of my blinds or draperies for that matter. I met Linda from Custom Sewing Innovations and decided to check out her products. All I say is WOW! What a difference a good set of blinds is! They are beautiful and they match the decor perfectly. Without Linda's expert advice I doubt I would have even considered the style or colors she suggested. It is such a pleasure to have blinds that are beautiful AND functional. I saved $200 on my heating bill and the house was toasty warm. Those nasty drafts that kept things chilly were gone. I was so happy with this one set of blinds I did my entire house with Linda's blinds and draperies. My home is beautiful, warm and entertaining is especially fun when I hear my guests tell me what a beautiful home I have. The installation was a breeze and Linda is always there for me. “I was referred to Angela of Barrington Draperies by my brother who had some work done on his windows. Our new home had those paper shades from Home Depot for two years and it was time for a change. My husband and I had some ideas of what we wanted done, but needed some guidance. Angela was WONDERFUL! She took our ideas and made them into dreams; it as like she could read our minds. I can't image our home without the shutters, shades, and draperies. She made our guest room, where my in-laws stay when they visit, feel like a luxury hotel room. It truly feels like a home now. “My husband and I bought window coverings from Blazek's Home Furnishings a few years ago. We bought Hunter Douglas window coverings, as well as a drape for our patio door. We were so satisfied with the results that we asked them back again to purchase drapes, cornices, and matching bedspreads for two of our bedrooms. Again, we are more than satisfied with the quality of their installations of the window shades, cornices, and drapes. Marilyn Blazek was extremely helpful with bringing drapery samples and helping me select fabric for the drapes, cornices, and bedspreads. Harold Blazek installed everything within a few hours and left no mess behind. My husband and I could not be more satisfied with their work and professionalism. Needless to say, we highly recommend Blazek's Home Furnishings to anyone who plans on buying new window coverings.”

“Jane Ginsberg is an absolute delight to work with. Great ideas, wonderful resources - always went the extra step to make sure everything was being handled properly. Never pushed her ideas or design direction on me - went with my sense of style, which she was very quick and astute in identifying. Calm demeanor - worked terifically with my general contractor and all subs - strong willed when she needed to be. I would so highly recommend her for any project you may be considering. Almost wish mine were still ongoing so I had a reason to continue working with her - although I fully plan to - again next spring and with any other upcoming needs.”

When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
