“Susan helped me with window coverings for our master bedroom, master bathroom, second bedroom and family room. Our master bathroom has a large square window with a half-circle window on top. It was a challenge because it sits on the other side of a jacuzzi tub. Susan recommended a honeycomb blinds with a remote control to open and close the blinds. We love it! We also love the room darkening blinds she recommended for the bedrooms. Our family room window has always been a challenge. It takes up most of a two-story window and includes a half-circle and two quarter circles. Susan recommended wood shutters and they are perfect. The wood in the shutters is a perfect match for our wood trim. The installers Susan works with are great! They arrive on time, are quick and efficient in the install and even provide hints about the best way to use the products. Susan is on-sight during the install to direct and answer questions. I am extremely pleased with my experience working with Susan. She made selecting and installing window treatments very easy and it was great to have someone who was able to work around my schedule. I'm looking forward to having Susan help me with future custom window treatments to coordinate with my blinds and shutters.”

“When I asked Diane Sherman, owner of Window Designs by Diane, to assist with my window treatment needs for a new home I was purchasing, she responded immediately and we set up a consultation within 24 hours. Diane asked many questions I would not have necessarily considered myself - such as my future design plans for each room - to help guide her in making the best recommendations. She also was very respectful of my budgetary requirements and gave me GREAT options that suited all of my needs. Her installer was very professional - prompt, skilled and good foliow-up when he didn't hear back from me after his first voice mail message. I truly felt like Diane cared about me as a customer and would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. I'm also a small business owner and Diane installed custom window treatments for my storefront. I could say all of the same comments for my work with her and her installer for that project as well. Highly recommended!”

“We highly reccomend Sunburst Shutters after having their poly wood shutters installed on all of the windows in our home. The entire process, from contacting their sales staff to having the shutters installed, was professional and painless. The salesman who came to our home was friendly and knowledgeable, and the installer was on time and very thorough in making sure that we were happy with how the shutters looked. We get compliments on our shutters all of the time. They add a classy look to every room in our home. Additionally, they function as insulators in both cold and warm weather. We were surprised how much the temperature in our home has improved since purchasing our shutters.”

“I was referred to Angela of Barrington Draperies by my brother who had some work done on his windows. Our new home had those paper shades from Home Depot for two years and it was time for a change. My husband and I had some ideas of what we wanted done, but needed some guidance. Angela was WONDERFUL! She took our ideas and made them into dreams; it as like she could read our minds. I can't image our home without the shutters, shades, and draperies. She made our guest room, where my in-laws stay when they visit, feel like a luxury hotel room. It truly feels like a home now. “My husband and I bought window coverings from Blazek's Home Furnishings a few years ago. We bought Hunter Douglas window coverings, as well as a drape for our patio door. We were so satisfied with the results that we asked them back again to purchase drapes, cornices, and matching bedspreads for two of our bedrooms. Again, we are more than satisfied with the quality of their installations of the window shades, cornices, and drapes. Marilyn Blazek was extremely helpful with bringing drapery samples and helping me select fabric for the drapes, cornices, and bedspreads. Harold Blazek installed everything within a few hours and left no mess behind. My husband and I could not be more satisfied with their work and professionalism. “We bought a small condo in a busy area of Chicago and needed shades and blinds. Blue Sky Blinds was recommended to us by a builder who does homes in the seven-figure range. Brendan gave us a recommendation and a quote. I price-shopped his quote against a "discount" retailer-installer. Brendan's was much cheaper. Then, when installation time came, problems with our condo arose, which Brendan solved without complaint or even comment. This mainly had to do with the concrete construction of the floors and ceilings. He had to drill into reinforced concrete to complete the installation. I would recommend Blue Sky Blinds to any builder or homeowner, large or small, without reservation.”

When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
