“We have consulted Julie Sinclair Interiors as our chosen local interior 'specialist' for a couple of jobs recently and have been very impressed at the high standard of work and customer care provided. Firstly, we required advice on a set of dining chairs that were tired and in need of a make-over and from the intitial choice of material to the finished task of re-covering them it was a wonderfully professional experience, one we would highly recommend. A bathroom window blind was next and the choice and finish available were superb - again a wonderful job thoughfully completed to our taste. Excellent work from begining to end.”

“Excellent job and very good value for money, had 2 pairs of curtains made, Doreen sourced the fabric and lining for me and came out to measure up, hassle free. Very pleased with end product only slight down would be they needed a really good pressing. Would recommend to friends. Think you may need bigger premises as you seem to have outgrown them. Thanks very much.”

“It was an absolute pleasure working with Josh. From start to finish he was very professional. We enquired about a blind and within half an hour he sent us colour samples of the blinds available. We gave him the size and details and he quoted us within 5 mins. The blind was made and delivered within 2 days. He even fitted us in before starting a large job so we didn't have to wait. Very kind and thoughtful of him. We would highly recommend Josh can't fault him or the workmanship at all a fantastic quality blind. Thanks Josh”

“R.J. Reynolds provided us with 15 large blinds for a project in Walthamstow. The blinds were grouped into 3's and there was artwork across them all. They ensured that the artwork lined up correctly which was a very difficult task. They delivered on time and organised a installer. Great communication and attention to detail. Would recommend them.”

“Jayne at Sewefficient has been making curtains, blinds and soft furnishings for me for over 10 years. She never refused working with a challenging fabrics and always did a great job. Even if at first glance the fabric is unmanageable, thinking of how the fabric can be manipulated and worked with always brought the desired outcome. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
Any fabric can be used, but generally the most common types of fabric used are cotton, silk, linen, polyester, and combinations of these due to their lighter weight and insulating properties.
