“I recently moved house, to a new area I am not familiar with, and wanted some help with window furnishings. Closs & Hamblin contacted by phone initially and asked me about my project, they arranged for a lady to come out to measure, and bring a variety of fabric samples. Julie was really helpful, and spent time listening to my ideas, then measured the windows, and advised on both poles and curtain headings. She then helped me choose the right fabric to go with my sofa, and talked through how the order would be made and fitted. I was then sent a quote, which I accepted. The curtains were hand made and delivered by a fitter, who installed the poles, and hung the curtains - again a seamless process. I cannot recommend this company highly enough, they were really friendly, listened to my requirements, kept me informed all the way through my order and delivered everything on time.”

“Tim and Liz are professional, polite and friendly in their approach. The shutters they fitted (which were without doubt the best value on offer) are a great product and look stunning in our house. We were so pleased with the first install we went back and purchased more from them for the remaining rooms in our house! “Sacha made 2 Roman blinds for my bedroom. She came to visit me with a very large choice of fabrics and to measure for each blind. Ordering was easy and Sacha kept me informed of when the blinds would be ready. The finished products are beautiful, very well made and fit perfectly. I am extremely happy with the service I received and the finished product. I certainly won't hesitate in asking her to make more blinds in the future.”

“Fab, unique linen fabrics - I recently bought some beautiful curtain fabric from The Linen Shop and have nothing but praise for the attention to detail and great service that I received from the staff. The shop, in Horsham, is a delight displaying a range of beautiful fabrics, cushions, clothes and gifts as well as original artwork by Fran White, a lovely place to browse and spend some time. If you can't get to the shop fabric swatches are easily obtainable from the on-line shop. The linen fabric is unique and has a quality and life of its own that makes it so special. I also bought some linen patchwork pieces which I have made into cushions and a throw so am truly delighted with the finished room.”

“Leanne offered a free measure and quote for the windows which required curtains and blinds in my first new house. She was very knowledgeable of the industry and gave her advice to what she thought would look best in our home. “Mel is fab. She has helped us update most of the rooms in the house, making curtains and blinds for many and advising on colours and styles as well as re up holstering chairs and stools. She has an easy approach, comes to your house and has great taste. No pressure from her though, making the whole experience a very pleasant one. She measures up and then comes and hangs the curtains, erecting poles and pelmets where required so the whole process is stress free.”

Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
