“I was referred to Lani with Transitions Drapery from a mutual friend and client. She raved about Lani and knew I was looking for a reliable source to make me custom window treatments. I called Lani and within a day or two, she came over to my home to meet with me, take measurements and give me all the information I needed to order. About a month later she came back over and installed the three custom roman shades in my kitchen window and they were better than what I had envisioned! When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
