“First of all Regina was recommended to me by several friends. She came to my home, she was quick to ask what I wanted and began showing me samples, I soon knew that what ever she recommended would be great. “We were extremely impressed by Jodi and her professionalism and product knowledge. We remodeled our kitchen and have 5 big windows and a slider that needed window treatments. We chose flat Roman shades and after interviewing several companies we chose Jodi with Smith and Nobel because their product is beautifully made, the fabric was exactly what I was looking for and their pricing cannot be beat. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
