“This was the smartest call I've made in a long time. I love my blinds they are both functional and beautiful adding warmth and elegance to my home. “My wife and I were originally going to get the job done by Sears, by the time we got around to it, Sears closed their blinds department. My wife really wanted Hunter Douglas blinds and found Gallant Custom shading carried them. Martin came to our place with samples, measured the windows and had an estimate emailed to us 3 hours later. Being custom made he estimated 3 weeks for delivery and we setup a rough date for install. He called us a week later saying they would be shipped a week earlier then expected and offered a earlier install date. Everything went as planned and we are very satisfied with the service. I would recommend this company if your loving for blinds.”

When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
