“Tammy @ BG Custom Windows is the absolute best. She does beautiful window treatments, but does so much more to help pull the design of your house together if you need it. Not only is Tammy easy to work with, but her eye for color, her sense of style and her ability to work within my budget was outstanding. Tammy helped me with the entire color pallette for the house down the color on each and every wall. She was willing to work with furniture pieces I already had, and spent time discussing with me about new pieces I wanted and needed that would be great foundational pieces that would last and give me the look and feel for the house I wanted. I walked into my first home - a blank canvas - not knowing what size or type of sofa, area rugs, tables, ottoman or other pieces I needed. Tammy was able to be sure everything that we bought was the right color and size so that my entire house had a professional, but comfortable look and feel. Everyone that walks into my house is immediately taken aback at how calm, peaceful and well-done my home is. I can't hardly get anyone to leave! “Ronica has repeatedly put together fantastic designs for my home over the years. She has done roman shades for my kitchen, sheers for my dining room, linen pinch pleats for the living room. Last year she created beautiful collections for both our master bedroom and my teen daughter's room complete with duvet covers, pillows, drapes, cushions, etc. She has a wonderful eye for colors and fabrics and the quality and craftsmanship of the end products are perfect. “Easy and fun with beautiful results. My ASID designer, Emily Walser and Smith & Noble made my window decorating a success!. With so many variables, choosing the right window treatment for an entire house is complicated! Emily with a great listener, quickly understood what I was trying to accomplish and took it from there. She found me the best window treatment for each room, ensured I took advantage of every promotion and sale, then carefully managed the order and the installation. I'm so glad I didn't just give up and order "builder basic" white blinds! Lesson I learned: No matter how much HGTV a person watchs, there is no substitution for professional expertise like Emily's.”

When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
Any fabric can be used, but generally the most common types of fabric used are cotton, silk, linen, polyester, and combinations of these due to their lighter weight and insulating properties.
