“Adrienne was very responsive and did what it took to make sure I was comfortable with styles and colors including coming to my house several times to get it perfect. She followed up exactly as she promised and oversaw the project through to completion and then made sure I was completely satisfied after it was done. This was the first time I met Adrienne. “Shirley Mitchell came to my house as an interior design expert and helped me update the window treatments in the living room of a 30 year old raised ranch. Not an easy assignment. She spent time discussing the project with me, determining what my budget would be for the project, and came prepared for addressing that with several different ideas. She was able to offer plenty of visuals, via catalogs of materials and samples of materials, for window treatments options and decorative hardware. She then mailed me samples of materials I might choose and let me consider my options, while keeping lines of communication open at all times. Once I did decide on a material then she returned and spent additional time and discussion with me regarding the construction of the window treatment. I never felt pressured into purchasing something I might feel unsure about; she also seemed to be very comfortable about offering me options within my budget that she felt would give the room the "facelift" I'd hoped to achieve. In a timely fashion, the project was completed, and the entire window treatment was installed within a hour's time one afternoon. Services were prompt and reliable; the installation was organized and well done by the team of installers. I am thrilled with the results. I am hoping to contact Mitchell Designs for my next project, my dining room. I would highly recommend them very highly, and without reservation.”

When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
