Great North Wood Construction

We hired Great North Wood construction. They started started work on our house in December 2021. Jack Moorcroft (managing director of GNW construction) failed to properly manage the project and after several formal warnings his contract was terminated in February 2023. He took sums of money from us under the guise of buying goods such as a boiler, tank and skylights. He failed to deliver and when we contacted one of the companies they said he had not been in contact with them. Upon letting him go we discovered our house was structurally unsafe and most of the steels he put in were wrong. He and his team failed to put in the simplest things like damp proof course or waterproof plasterboard or tanking in wet areas. We have had to spend around £60,000 just to redo the work he did as he also failed to keep the building control up to date. We are currently seeking over £100,000 in goods and services that he failed to supply but we had paid for. He also charged VAT when he was not registered to do so. He has made our lives a nightmare. I would not recommend Jack Moorcroft and /GNW Construction (be aware that the company is due to be struck off from Companies House so he may reappear under a different company name).

We couldn't be happier with the services we received and the high standard of work produced by Trevor, Jack, and the rest of the team at GNW Construction. Our loft extension and installation of the ensuite bathroom and full decoration of the new master bedroom has left us with a truly incredible space that we love spending time in. GNWC's craftsmanship and attention to detail are impeccable. Every consideration was made to maximize the space to its fullest potential and every idea we had was considered and executed beyond our original hopes. The final interior design plan was outsourced, and the works carried out by GNWC. They brought the entire design to life and added additional features to work with our design that really enhanced its finish. We are extremely happy with the outcome. We look forward to the further renovation plans in our home for the downstairs bathroom and kitchen which we will be asking GNWC to do also.
