James and the team transformed our bungalow into exactly what we had hoped for and all within the initial fee scope. The team are respectful, polite and knowledgable. We’ve recommended JMB to friends for similar projects and would definitely use them again.

We used JMB design & build for our double storey, side extension. Throughout the entire project, James talked us through every stage and felt very comfortable with everything. All of James' team were very professional & the quality of work was first class. As with such a large building project like this, we encountered some challenges along the way e.g. heavy rain causing leaks, drains being blocked up but James & his team were quick to find solutions and minimise any further disruption. We loved having the team work on our house, they were so courteous and treated our house like it was their own. There are too many names to mention from the team that we like to thank, but a special call out goes to Owen, Sam & Ricky, who were invloved in our building work from the first day to the final completion. James and his team completed the redevelopment of my house on time, within budget and to an exceptional standard I was particularly pleased with the innovative ideas that James had when we were met with a number of challenges during the project I would not hesitate to recommend JMB and I will be using them on my next project which will start in 2024

James and the team really were excellent from start to finish. They were dependable, knowledgeable and the works were to a very good standard. The team worked quickly and were always keen to solve any challenges which arose. When another contractor who we had lined up to install the flooring did not perform, JMB really helped us out in quickly taking over their works so we could get back into our house as soon as possible with our new baby. A big thank you to James, Owen and the rest of the team! We love our new home.

James was the final builder we met before making a decision. We had seen quite a few but James was different. As soon as we opened our front door we knew he was the man for the job. An instinct which proved correct. James and his team were great. Friendly, professional, respectful, helpful, all done with a sense of humour. The renovation of our bungalow has surpassed our dreams. James is a designer as well which was so handy when he knew something wasn’t going to work. He took time to explain his solution and we trusted his judgment. Any time we wanted to query something, he would endeavour to be at the property quickly to discuss . We are now back in our lovely home which we are excited to showcase to our family and friends. Even the washing machine repair man, who had visited us before the work started, remarked on the wow factor. From a dingy 1960 bungalow we now have a home where we’re always glad to return. We are very happy to recommend James and his team. They’ve done a terrific job.

We decided we wanted to make some changes to our semi-detached cottage, we had a few building firms come to see us, what swayed our decision to choose JMB was the design ideas and also James’s approach, very straight talking and transparent. We extended to the side and back and completely reconfigured our downstairs changing our original 2 bedroom one en-suite, loft room, main bathroom downstairs, small kitchen, separate living and dining areas and a very old-fashioned cottage garden. It now has two en-suite bedrooms, the main bedroom with a vaulted ceiling Juliet balcony and en-suit bath, walk in shower and toilet. Second bedroom en-suite shower and toilet. Loft changed to an office/ spare room. downstairs now has underfloor heating throughout, ceiling speakers and an open plan sitting and dining area, large modern kitchen with an island that seats 4, downstairs cloakroom and bi-folds that open onto the patio and modern garden with built in BBQ. James also has a great team that work hard and efficiently, very respectful, tidy and their finish is to a very high standard. We are delighted with our ‘new’ home and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JMB

We used JMB Design & Build for a single storey extension across the back of our house. James provided excellent advice on planning the space and the options open to us. We went with a pitched roof with two electric Velux windows as opposed to the usual flat roof, which has been the best decision we made giving us a lovely light and bright entertaining space. The building team were excellent and worked quickly and efficiently throughout from foundations to decorating, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them for building projects.

James and his team did a really excellent job on our kitchen and utility room and we are delighted with the final result. They were efficient, with great attention to detail. There were no hidden extras and the project completed on time. James and Janette were very nice to deal with. Always helpful and responsive. We will definitely return for future projects.

JMB Design & Build are the most trustworthy people in this area. I had a house extension done. They responded to my queries promptly, completed the project within the budget (including minor additions to the scope of works) and in a very reasonable timeframe. The workers treated my house and family with at most respect. We continued to live in the liveable area and work itself progressed without any disruption. I carried the design via an external architect. In the hindsight I will most definitely request the design from JMB’s firm directly. Since they took care of all the inspections required for the works. Myself and my family are really happy with their works and management of the same. Regular visits by James (Owner and project manager of this project) helped to resolve any challenges that we came across very amicably. James made himself available over the phone as well, whenever we needed his support to move things forward. I would definitely recommend this firm for any House extension type works. I would like to take this opportunity to thank James and his team for completing the work to good quality.

Taking on such a large protect is always daunting and working with James has took away all the worry and stress. James’s honest approach to everything through out the project allowed me to be at ease. Also upon finishing I cannot be happier with the end product and quality of his team’s workmanship.

James and his team did a fabulous job in our house, converting the loft to a spacious bedroom and downstairs creating an open plan kitchen dining area, removing a chimney breast, replastering, woodwork and decorating all finished to a high standard. They were reliable, very conscientious and extremely tidy. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them!

My objectives were to creat a toilet from a built in pantry, create sufficient storage so as to keep worktops 100% free, leave no appliances exposed, modernise exterior power and lighting, improve power efficiency and modernise styling. I failed in that I have a toaster, spoon rest and a box of tissues on the work top. My favourite features are the boiling water tap, built in coffee and tea bar and several automatic light systems. With such a multi-trade discipline I looked for a company I could trust and found them via Houzz. JMB Design & Build cleverly solved any problems as they arose and completed to my entire satisfaction. James managed my project professionally and wisely - always making sure I was a happy bunny. His back up administrator Jannett kept lines of communication flowing so I needn’t worry about anything. I also appreciated the skilled craftsmen employed by James and found them to be very considerate. Obviously I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JMB for your project. Regards Geoffrey Da Costa

JMB have been excellent. James was professional, punctual, knowledgable and always happy to help and give honest and constructive advice. JMB have delivered on multiple projects around our home. The first a full renovation of our master bedroom, with a walk in wardrobe and en suite fitted. The next was a kitchen renovation which has totally transformed the space and feel of our home. Finally a downstairs toilet transformed into full wet room with built in shower. Genuinely couldn’t recommend JMB enough.

James runs a highly professional building company with high quality tradesmen. They have completed our house extension with a full refurbishment of the ground floor and it has been of really high quality from the very first day. James is very particular in getting things done correctly, even if that means his staff need to redo the job to get it right and meet his standards. I can see why JMB carry out a lot of large projects as they ensure good work in a timely manner. I would highly recommend JMB for any construction work and I have already passed on his details to a few friends and family.

The project was complete refurbishment of a 5 bed, 3 bath + wc family home, with a rear, extension, and roof extension. The works included solar panels, air conditioning, CCTV, wi-fi systems and high levels of thermal and acoustic insulation. James and his building team were proactive, courteous, and helpful. They made timely progress each week on site. Additional items requested by the client were undertaken quickly and at a reasonable cost. James insisted the site was kept tidy and made regular visits to ensure the quality and progress of the works. He stood up for quality and took a pride in his companies work. He and his team reacted well with the client. I was the architect and client representative on the scheme.

Highly recommend James and his team at JMB. Getting an extension or any other major works done on a property is always an anxious time. James and all his team that worked on our property were immensely professional and friendly. They went the extra mile to keep mess to a minimum and clean up after themselves as best as possible each day. This makes a huge difference on the impact it has on a stressful time. We benefitted from and were reassured by James' daily site visits which included discussions on any issues and daily progress and schedules and were eventually happy to let him make decisions for us. They were also happy to change tack at times in exactly what direction the works were going. I would unreservedly recommend JMB and would use them again if needed. They were extremely competitive in price, friendly, competent, professional, and completed the works to a very high standard and on time.

We are very pleased with our kitchen extension. James(JMB) did an excellent job. He set himself high standards and he was only content when these are achieved. This has culminated in a very successful project. Everone loves our kitchen. We would not hesitate in recommending James.

James is one of the most professional builders I have ever met. Since day one on the project, he was always willing to put us first and making sure all our needs were met. Even when changes happened through out he would go out of his way to make sure we were happy with the product and end result. When we had given James ideas of what we wanted doing he would give us various options and made sure everything was up to a high standard of work. I found him to be honest, hardworking and always keeping us up to date. If/When I need more work doing I'll be sure to call him and his team again.

James and his team constructed a 4 x 11 meter extension at my house. We lived at the property whilst the work was conducted. His team of staff are very good at what they do. I also liked James for the simple reason is that he is honest and he answers the phone. No building work ever runs smoothly but any problems we had James and his team managed to overcome. The dreaded word “extras” were kept to an absolute minimum and we are delighted with our finished product. Would 100% recommend James and his team to anyone that wants work completed to a high standard.

James and his team were incredibly professional throughout the project. The design ideas and the building work involved to “make them happen” were exemplary. The management and communication of expectations and price as we uncovered challenging issues with the cottage were also very clear and easy to understand from a layman perspective. With reference to COVID, the team were always very respectful of the necessary working practices and despite materials being somewhat scarce there were no delays to the completion of the project.
