We approached Mustard house design because we have just purchased an old Victorian house which had previously been rented out, and thus needed a lot of love but also we wanted to make it our own. Mustard house really changed things for us, they came and met us in person and discussed in depth what we wanted and we went through a lot of designs, and materials. We asked them to help us in a full end to end project, and they brought a lot of experience from what seemed to be a huge portfolio of work. So we got plans in place including solutions to issues found in a property survey, they helped us find building company and tender the work to them, they helped bring the right safety people in also and then decide on materials and suppliers. They then did site visits while the work was being conducted which helped to push work the work on but also spotted some , what would have been very expensive, issues which they got the builders to fix. The project has transformed the house and its hard to believe its the same property, it feels that its expanded in size! it was turned from a 1 bathroom, 3 bed to a 3 bed and 3 bathroom property, and no space in the bed rooms were sacrificed. Better use of the space has meant we have squeezed every inch we could out of the house. Everyone who we have had round has said how amazing it looks. I am really thankful we got Mustard house involved in this project.

Mustard house Design did a wonderful job of designing our new bathroom. We weren’t planning on hiring the services of a designer, but we were struggling to put our ideas into a coherent plan and on a modest budget. In stepped Simon, who was able to do just that. Simon gave us exactly what we needed in our small bathroom and added lots of really stylish and practical touches. The end result is a beautiful bespoke bathroom that suits our needs perfectly and didn’t break the bank. The plans were meticulous and very detailed, which enabled the builders to follow them accurately. This was an important aspect, as otherwise things might have been done for expediency. Having just completed a project of freshening up my loft style flat in a converted school house and installing two new bathrooms with Simon's assistance, I feel well placed to sing the praises of Simon's design firm. I am at a point in my life -- having just turned 70 -- when I had a decision to take whether to continue to live in my current space or move to a more age appropriate flat. I decided on the former alternative but came to the project with some clear ideas:- I wanted to have the benefit of a good designer's eye to make sure that the revamp would be successful and pleasing to the eye but I also wanted at this stage in my life to have a flat which accurately reflected who I am, where i've been and what has given me some satisfaction in my life. My previous experience with two other design firms had, to say the least, been 'mixed'. One felt very inclined to push his idea that the design was in the architecture and therefore he didn't much like the idea of my putting up and displaying pictures and artefacts which I had accumulated over the years which meant something to me. The second seemed inclined to re-upholster and replace everything possible, clocking up unnecessary costs from my point of view and no doubt extra commissions for his goodself. Simon took my brief and worked with it. When I was in danger of taking a wrong turn he wasn't afraid to tell me. Yet at the same time he has helped me to recreate the space in which I am living both in a way which I think is very beautiful but also bears my personal stamp. As for the two bathrooms, where I decided that I was prepared to have Simon 'push out the boat' both creatively and financially, I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Each is stunning in its own way and uses materials which Simon has selected to meet my personal tastes, one of them an entirely new space created by him and tiled with a cracked glaze tiling reminiscent of the Chinese cracked glaze porcelain that I very much admirer and the other with a rather rough and ready maxculine aesthetic including ancident lockers from, I believe, an old French lycee. Simon was amiable throughout, made a budget and stuck to it unless he warned me otherwise beforehand and was prepared to work with favourite builders of mine which involved a substantial amount of patience on his part as he taught them to 'up their game' in terms of the quality of their work. I can very honestly, hand on heart say, that I could not imagine a better experience with another designer. A big thanks to you, Simon.

I am a retiree landlord/property owner based in South London. Simon Tong Associates have been an invaluable resource over some 15 years with various discrete projects for either me personally or my collection of rental properties. Simon has worked on the external and internal refurbishment of my 4 storey 1842 Grade II listed town house in Kennington. The work has included structural rectification works to the exterior walls and roof, complete window refurbishment and where necessary replacement, along with interior design refurbishment projects - so far in the Sitting Room, Kitchen/Dining Room, a bathroom and renewal of a Garage/Crafts Workshop. His handling of Building Control and Listed Building Consent and dealings with the structural engineer and combining these into one submission was invaluable and ultimately very successful. He is charmingly firm with contractors. On the rental side Simon has provided guidance, design and assistance in the refurbishment works I have undertaken from time to time, notably full-scale kitchen and bathroom renewal together with furniture choice and dressing out work for new tenant marketing imagery. His background in 5 Star Hotel design gives him important knowledge and experience of suppliers and kit, and very importantly budgetary control. His drawings and renderings are of high quality – elegant and informative, and he is especially good at lighting design and specification. Simon’s commercial experience in the Far East, dealing with the biggest players in the hospitality industry makes him a calm and solid designer who is able to handle projects of all sizes and complexity. He has been a welcome member of my team over the years.
