My experience with Brendan of NJC could not be worse. Steel beams too low, sewage pipes blocking what was supposed to be a vaulted ceiling, wrapped in huge ugly boxing, and a leaking roof. It's all got to be ripped out and rebuilt at considerable cost. He blames everything on Mark the architect, who he recommended to me. Apparently, not actually a qualified architect, even though that is what I asked for. The architect blames everything on to Brendan, neither will give way. I have recently found out that no Building Control Officer was appointed so I have now had to apply for BC Regularisation with Bromley Council. I have been living in a building site for eight months now, four months since he stopped work, and he is holding a considerable sum of my money.

Run for the hills when you see NJC! Hiring them (or him) was the worst decision of our lives. This review is a dire warning: Steer clear of NJC like a ship dodging a hurricane. We hired him for a renovation, but what we got was a nightmare. Brendan, the owner, hired incompetent workers who renovated our house like a toddler with glue sticks, installed piped that would make our toilet doodoo go straight to the garden, and built walls that looked like they'd been through a war. Low steel beams, leaks, and warps - They messed up everything they touched. As if the shoddy work wasn't enough, Brendan's blatant lies about finishing early added insult to injury. I was about to have a baby, his constant string of empty promises left me sleeping with one eye open, terrified my baby would come home to a construction zone. A 4 month project very well became 1 whole year! To top it all off, by the time we were forced to terminate the contract (we had paid nearly 70% at this point!), EVERYTHING had to be ripped out and redone by a competent builder. Don't risk your health, finances, safety, and sanity like we did. Choose ANY other builder besides NJC. Your sanity and bank account will thank you.

I had a terrible experience with NJC, specifically over a lack of communication. I emailed Brendan, who runs the company, about providing me with a quote for kitchen/garden work and he got back to me quickly, asking me to send him PDFs of the plans I had drawn up by an architect. I did just that and since then, which was over two weeks ago, have not heard back from Brendan, and this despite me emailing him a couple of times and calling his office a couple of times. This is incredibly rude behaviour on Brendan’s behalf, as well as being incredibly unprofessional. I would suggest nobody seeks to work with him and his company - there is a strong chance you will be let down.

Brendan and his team did a great job with our renovations, taking care of everything from painting and laying flooring to remodelling some of the rooms. The team were able to start the works within a week of quotation and finished everything very quickly. Would definitely recommend!

Brendan and his entire team were superb. From initial visit to completion everything worked seamlessly. We were kept informed at every stage of the process and the work was performed to the highest quality with friendly hardworking staff. Most of all we are extremely pleased with the finished project.

We appointed NJC to convert our garage into a kitchen/utility room. Following the completion of the works we are very pleased with the quality of the space and workmanship undertaken. The client service throughout was good and responsive. The guys on site were excellent, at their work, courteous, polite and friendly. We would highly recommend NJC.

So we accepted Brendan's Fixed price quote to come and put the finishing touches/corrections to our complete house renovation. This involved rendering and detailing the new porch and relaying the pathway. Modernising the 1980s bin store to accept taller modern bins whilst making a sliding door from scratch. Refurb the garage including replaster paint and fitting a kitchen at the back of it . Then various small projects such as putting new fencing up. All jobs undertaken with real attention to detail - The guys even got our Jacuzzi bath working - researching a spare part one evening, ordering it and fitting it - something that was beyond our plumbing supplier for 6 months. So the team had all the skills, brilliant attitude and communication - every day checking we were happy and on Schedule and that the site was spotless. Payment of the fixed price at the end was frankly a joy - this is how all building projects should run and I am delighted to recommend Nicholas James.
