Pegasus Builders

We employed Pegasus to build our dream house mid 2021 after having several quotes to do the work ,we decided although they were the most expensive that they could do the best job for us , I was reassured by the owner that he would perform a really quality job and the house would be ready Dec 2022 , The house to be built was a total new build designed by a chosen award winning local architect of ours and was a modern Georgian style 5 bed 5000 sq foot house set in several acres of farm land . I entered in to a JCT fixed price contract . Within the first few months thee were some alarm bells ... the basement plant room where we specifically had spec drains , had no ducts built in and their foreman let it slip that the reason was cost saving to Pegasus . ( this 2 years later is big expensive remediation job to retro fit drains ) As the project progressed the work became worse and worse .. many of Pegasus subcontractors were forced in to uncomfortable positions for example the bricklayer a subcontractor ,was told to build an inner block wall against his will , normally to line the outer brick work up with inner block work these 2 walls would be done in tandem .. the reason we later found out was that Pegasus had not ordered bricks and lime in time .. In essence through lack of planning preparation and communication with us and their contractors there were delays and "rushed build" techniques , not to mention the corners they cut to save money . Eventually , we employed the services of a reputable surveyor to provide us with a report of works - there were over 25 items very wrong - bare in mind the house is still only half built .. some of those items were contrary to building regulations some were unethical building practise . We asked Pegasus to remedy such issues before further works but they were incapable of committing to doing this. Our Surveyor had no choice than to terminate with Pegasus. Since then we have found another really excellent contractor , sadly the list of remedials from Pegasus faulty work has increased as the new contractor uncovers new problems .. I think we are up to 45 major faults which will cost thousands to remediate . Pegasus since terminating are contractually obliged to hand over all drawings / structural / designs etc and 6 months later they are still withholding information . The whole experience with these seemingly professional firm has been a total disaster , if we are lucky we might be nearly complete by May 25 - over 2 years late I really question why they would take on such prestigious build when clearly they don't have the experience or organisation skill to perform such a job , coupled with they do not use quality materials and will use inferior products where ever possible. It has been a journey .. and a bad one !

High quality of workmanship; excellent end result (much admired by many).

In November last year, 2020, during a period of lock down, we had a serious water leak under our kitchen floor, and no idea what was causing it. I contacted Pegasus, our local builder, to seek help as a matter of some urgency! Although clearly busy, Pegasus responded straight away, sending a senior manager to assess the situation, which my wife and I - senior citizens who live on our own - much appreciated. They were then able to provide a very good workman to investigate and identify the cause of the leak which was then quickly rectified. Further work was then carried out to repair the damage prior to another local company laying the new floor covering. We are very grateful to Pegasus for their prompt action leading up to Christmas, to what was to us a crisis; all those we met and spoke to were always very helpful and pleasant and thoroughly professional and workmanlike at all times.
