Custom Build Home Professionals in Southwick, West Sussex

“From our initial meeting, John was a positive force in our renovation project, to a house largely untouched for 20 years. Without leaning on his years of experience and contacts, we would still be floundering. - His suggestion of a reasonable change to our original plans provided more space and light. He also suggested options to other parts of the renovation that proved helpful in the final design. - His close management of the tendering process, with four prospective companies bidding, ensured clarity on the exact works to be undertaken and assurance the builder chosen was best value, of suitable quality and focussed on client service. - John suggested product suppliers appropriate to our budget/quality requirements, enabling a narrowing of seemingly myriad options. - His Management of, and involvement with, the construction phase, both dealing with subjects of which we had no knowledge, to liaison with the building team via regular site visits, ensured a (customer requested) challenging timetable was largely met - Always prompt responses, practical advice and the ability to calm fevered thoughts, using his knowledge and years of experience. We had always believed a project manager was desirable, but in retrospect it was essential, even for our size of project. For a layman, there are so many unknown unknowns, strands to pull together and coordinate, things where a little knowledge or the internet may prove to be a time - and money - wasting hindrance if flying solo. John’s contributions greatly enhanced the final outcome and eased the stress levels associated with the project. We would strongly recommend him if you are considering any building project and want an independent, client focussed partner.”

“We loved our unassuming Victorian terrace but wanted to create a better kitchen/ dining experience and make all year round use of our courtyard garden. We didn’t really know what could be achieved or whether a reconfiguration of the space would be worthwhile. Well what a transformation we have! Sam worked with us in a fully collaborative way, sharing ideas and views to come up with the best results. At outset he spent a lot of time helping us determine what we wanted from the space and how we would move between our zones in a flexible and sociable way. He was patient and sharp while steering us through a range of ideas and options to determine what we liked and disliked in terms of materials, colour schemes and styles. What we had throughout the process was so much more than an architect - Sam not only took us through the building design and regs but a full re design of our living space downstairs collaborating in a friendly and professional manner throughout. For a small house project with a quirky space, we feel so pleased to have found Sam and the full build team ( who were excellent) as the result is amazing. The project to reinvigorate our kitchen and dining space became a whole house redesign, but we have future proofed our home for ourselves and for generations to come and we love it! If you’re not sure what you want, how you want or if your house dream is achievable, in the first instance ask Sam at Bavian Design!”

“I really recommend Chris Jones who helped us with the plans and building regs for my daughter who was setting up her buisness. Chris was always available for questions and guidance and helped us meet very tight deadlines”
