“Mel is fab. She has helped us update most of the rooms in the house, making curtains and blinds for many and advising on colours and styles as well as re up holstering chairs and stools. She has an easy approach, comes to your house and has great taste. No pressure from her though, making the whole experience a very pleasant one. She measures up and then comes and hangs the curtains, erecting poles and pelmets where required so the whole process is stress free.”

“Fab, unique linen fabrics - I recently bought some beautiful curtain fabric from The Linen Shop and have nothing but praise for the attention to detail and great service that I received from the staff. The shop, in Horsham, is a delight displaying a range of beautiful fabrics, cushions, clothes and gifts as well as original artwork by Fran White, a lovely place to browse and spend some time. If you can't get to the shop fabric swatches are easily obtainable from the on-line shop. The linen fabric is unique and has a quality and life of its own that makes it so special. I also bought some linen patchwork pieces which I have made into cushions and a throw so am truly delighted with the finished room.”

“Aimee has been absolutely fantastic and I really couldn't recommend her highly enough. She was recommended to me by a friend as I wanted to use a small company rather than a large London based one which may not have had the time to deal with my various requests. Aimee is incredibly flexible, professional and nothing is too much trouble. I have used Aimee for virtually every room in our house and I only wish I had more windows for her to work her magic on !”

“Absolutely love the shutters from le louvre, they look beautiful and finish the look of the rooms perfectly.they were very helpful and had a range of different shutters choose from. “We had 2 pairs of beautiful curtains made by Chelsea Artisans, along with buying the poles from them. The whole process was quick, easy and very professional. The ladies came out to measure and helped us chose some beautiful fabric, and advised us with the design. The curtains and poles were the fitted in great time and look stunning! When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
