What Goes Around was started in November 2011 by Dave and Debbie Andrew when we discovered we shared a love of searching out sad, unused pieces of furniture and repairing and renewing them into lovely items for the home. It’s a well-known fact that fashion trends repeat themselves over time, and What Goes Around aims to reflect this. The old mahogany chest of drawers that has seen better days becomes a beautiful painted piece to brighten up any bedroom. The bureau that nanny had looks nice, but with a coat of paint it becomes a lovely addition to the home, refreshed and reused.
All our pieces are restored and treated for woodworm, where necessary, before hand painting with chalk based paints, distressed to age and waxed to protect. All carried out by hand, each piece becomes an individual and unique piece of furniture not found on the High Street. Working with wood and bringing new life to a chair, or a chest of drawers, is a lovely way to recycle a previously much-loved or used piece of furniture.
Dave is the carpenter and joiner of the family and loves to correct faults or repair broken bits of furniture. With his knowledge we ensure all furniture is sound and fit for the purpose, rid of any woodworm and looking good before painting. Debbie and Dave both paint, using a lovely palette of chalk based paints and endeavour to match the colour to the piece of furniture. We source items both far and near, finding ourselves always on the look out for stock wherever we may be. It’s becoming a passion and we hope you like what you see.
