Alex Hobbs Landscape and Garden Design

Alex did the most amazing and imaginative designs for our difficult 3 layer garden. He listened to our wants and needs and the resulting design is fantastic. We now have a gorgeous useable space with a platform, seating area and fire pit. Alex oversaw the project implementation and has provided ongoing support to ensure the plants mature well.

Alex was engaged as a consultant to look at an unused space at the Academy, with a view to turning it into a space for students to use. His initial consultation was of a very high, professional standard, and we engaged him to assist with the design and build. On completion Alex took over the planting scheme, and designed and planted the soft landscaping. We have since engaged him on maintenance of the garden, and he has kept it looking at its best. I would recommend Alex for all aspects of Garden design and build, plus maintenance. He was professional at all times, and has continued with his interest in how the garden has matured. All students and staff are now enjoying the space at its best.

When Alex first came to our property, it was a muddle of garden buildings and different levels with no continuity and tricky access. We were struggling to work out the best approach and needed a garden design that would work with a new build project that was taking place on the same land. Alex listened to all our needs and clearly thought carefully about how to knit the design together with our practical considerations and budget. His fresh ideas for how to make the most of our sea views and computer modelling helped us to confidently totally re-structure the garden during the ground work phase of the project. The ideas for planting and materials have been invaluable and as the build moves towards completion, we're now looking forward to getting to the fun part of preparing the beds and planting. Alex is one of those rare individuals who combines a creative mind with the technical and practical skills to make his artistic vision a reality. He listened to our needs and came up with a design which incorporated elements and materials we had not considered; he also sourced bespoke items to make our garden truly unique. It was tricky at times to balance the budget with Alex's desire for perfection but we got there in the end and he never compromised on the quality of the work he did. He paid great attention to detail and we are thrilled with the outcome.
