Mozolowski & Murray

We have used Mozolowski and Murray for several jobs (windows, doors and roofing) since 2016 till present day and every single job has been carried out to an exemplary standard. The pre and post job communication is always extremely professional. The trades staff they have are friendly, trustworthy and very good at what they do. The quality of materials used and craftmanship is as good as anything I have seen in my many years of refurbishing and developing properties. I would definitely recommend Mozolowski and Murray.

We commissioned 2 projects from Mozolowski & Murray (M&M): 1.An orangery 2.A rebuild of our atrium entrance area We selected M&M because of their long-standing reputation and were prepared to pay a premium for a high-quality, well-managed service. Orangery The orangery project began in March 2024 and was completed on schedule by May 2024. The workmanship was good, and this project progressed smoothly and professionally. Atrium The atrium rebuild was a very different experience and turned into a 17-month ordeal due to serious failings in workmanship and management. The new roof leaked within weeks (June 2024), just before final payment was due. M&M downplayed the leaks, attempted several unsuccessful repairs, and did not send senior staff to inspect the work. Instead, they relied on reports from their tradespeople. We had to commission an independent building survey, which confirmed the roof was defective and required complete reconstruction. The roof was stripped back and rebuilt in Autumn 2024, yet leaks persisted. Only after we insisted that Fatra, the membrane manufacturer, inspect the work—twice—was the roof finally declared watertight in March 2025. Other significant issues included: •Omission of emergency storm drainage channels •A 300 mm gap in the internal damp-proof membrane, which required the new paving slabs to be lifted and relaid. •Repeated defects at the threshold needing 3 repairs. •Doors that stuck and became inoperable, later rehung, but still allowed water penetration. •The electric roof vent mechanism failed during an inspection, and there was no manual override. The inspector could not close the vents and did not recognise the risks of leaving them open in heavy rain. •At the final inspection Building Control identified a defect at ground level below a lintel which would allow vermin to enter the underfloor area and required the defect was covered with wire mesh and gravel before sign-off. The company suggested we buy the materials and make good or wait four months until they were next in the area! Management The most disappointing aspect was the attitude of M&M’s senior management who •Requested final payment on the last day of construction despite an unresolved snagging list. Withholding payment proved essential leverage to get the roof rebuilt and the doors repaired. •Minimised and dismissed our concerns, forcing us to involve an independent surveyor to verify the defects. •Repeatedly blamed condensation for clear cases of water penetration. •Did not offer an apology until we explicitly requested one in writing. •Failed to honour their promises to replace the faulty electric vent mechanism with a manual system. Recommendation If you are considering using Mozolowski & Murray, we strongly advise: •Engaging an independent Building Surveyor from design through completion, and •Ensuring your final payment is not due until at least one month after full and satisfactory completion.

Most professional company I have ever worked with. We live in a remote part of Scotland, four hours away from Mozolowski & Murray's HQ and they never missed a beat, even in the worst of the winter weather! We are thrilled with our orangery which is a work of art and has transformed how we live and entertain. The team were always so polite, respectful and non-intrusive. The whole project was seamless from start to finish and our neighbours have now contacted M&M to look at adding a small conservatory after seeing how much it has improved our daily lives. This firm was recommended to us by friends who had had a great experience. Unfortunately we didn’t. The list of failures and mistakes is too long to list here but in brief they proposed a conservatory structure that had a void between our property and our neighbours. They told us this would be capped, making it wind and watertight. When they subsequently found out they couldn’t attach any flashing to our neighbours wall they suggested it be left open to the elements which we rejected. They proposed some minor remedies which were not appropriate yet insisted that they had met their obligations and kept part of our deposit when we cancelled the contract. On top of this they didn’t follow their own procedure by applying for planning consent without even consulting us. The drawings they sent were different to the ones we signed off on causing embarrassment with our neighbours. They then sent a number of incorrect drawings to us after this event. Overall the whole project has been a shambles. They have some nerve to keep a proportion of our deposit bearing in mind they wasted a year of our time and caused us stress with absolutely nothing to show for it. Instead of doing the right thing they refer you to their terms and conditions so please read them carefully.

We knew we wanted a former pent-roofed full glass conservatory replaced with an entirely new structure with a solid roof, and had had it priced up by an architect and builder before turning to M&M as an alternative. By that time we had a good idea exactly what we wanted, but Virginia 'got' it straight away, and provided us with drawings of two different options. The quote, as expected, was high but, because it included everything from architect fees to the structural engineering, it wasn't so much more than the other estimate. And for the certainty of a fixed price and the reassurance we got from knowing that conservatories are precisely their thing, we reckoned it would be worth the extra. Right from the first day, they exceeded expectations in terms of willingness to give us what we wanted. There wasn't a single person amongst them who wasn't courteous, friendly and helpful, willing to make suggestions or volunteer ways of improving the work. Unfortunately, because they don't do plumbing and we had serious problems with the supplier (don't ever touch Rehau), both they and we were held up considerably in getting the job finished. But they continued to work very flexibly around our infuriating delays and, though the entire job became so much more of a trial than we'd anticipated, that wasn't anything to do with M&M, who have given us a new centre to our home that we can be really proud of. With the benefit of the fixed price, we had no budget concerns whenever issues inevitably arose - eg. a lintel was broken or extra RSJs were needed; M&M sorted it all without a word. We did pay a premium, but we certainly got a premium service. Right from the start, from the regular communication with a project contact, the day-by-day schedule of trades on site, and the willingness to refer to us as clients and to communicate progress and ensure we were happy, to the final six-month inspection to rectify any issues that might have arisen due to settlement or shrinkage, they really go the extra mile to ensure you as the client are happy with every aspect of the work. You definitely get what you pay for, both in terms of service, and end result.

The company fitted new windows and door in our new home. The service was second to none from the stage of the estimate, the administration staff, the joiners and painters. They were able to bring forward our date for the work, arrived as scheduled, moved furniture if required , covered flooring and furnishings well and hoovered up after- minimal mess. Everyone we spoke to were extremely helpful communicated how things were going and all workmen pleasant and knowledgeable. An excellent standard of service and we would recommend them highly.

Mozolowski and Murray set the bar very high for the quality of their work and the standards which they apply. So they expect to be judged by those elevated standards. Their main work here has been the construction of a conservatory, not entirely rectilinear, in conformity with the demands of the planners on a conservation-area house. This was their masterpiece, in our view at least. It was not an easy build, and I was impressed by their staff's willingness to address problems which did arise in partnership with us. They were all personable, courteous and considerate, as well as professionally competent throughout.

I had a Sun Lounge built, and the work was completed quickly, efficiently and to a very high standard. The company were always extremely professional and courteous and any issues were dealt with immediately.

We commissioned Mozolowski and Murray to build a sun room extension to our house. The work was completed to a very high standard. The company kept in close touch with us throughout the building work via regular calls from the Client Liaison Manager who was very helpful. We were keen that the project be finshed by mid August and to achieve this M & M brought forward part of the work by three days. All the workmen who were at our house were pleasant, polite and punctual. They made a very good job of clearing up after themselves. They always turned up when they said they would and did what they were asked to do. Although not cheap, we would highly recommend this very professional company.

An excellent job with outstanding level of finish. It's no wonder they have a full order book for Months ahead. Very good workmen who tidy up after them and leave the job as they found it. Can't ask for more than that although this is all reflected in the price I guess.

Our new conservatory is absolutely beautiful, and it was completed on-time and on-budget. What more could you ask for? The design in our case was fairly easy, as we already had quite a fixed plan ourselves, but we were given two excellent proposals with variations, to choose from. The workmen were all very efficient, professional, polite, and very flexible in putting up with our very difficult access area on a steep hillside location. We are delighted with our gorgeous new room. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and more!

We had an orangery built by Mozolowski and Murray and we are absolutely delighted with the result. From the initial visit, the design process, solving planning issues, the build itself up to the final inspection the professionalism and attention to detail was exemplary. We were kept in the loop at every stage through a detailed plan of works and regular contact from the company to ensure that we were happy with progress. All of the workers on site were hard working, friendly and skilled. The craftsmanship of the orangery is excellent and the design fits in perfectly with our original house.
