The owners were on site often, reviewing what had been done with our boss (both our foreman and the owner of the company). In other words, they were very involved, and it was welcomed. “Tom and his team turned our dream into a reality this past year. In 2004, my husband and I plus our 2 month old son moved into our 3 bedroom ranch. This was a nice sized house, however, we decide to expand our family which slowly made our home much more smaller. in 2013 and a total of four children later... we set out to find a contractor to finish off our basement. We interviewed three general contractors per advice from friends and family. Our contractors that we interviewed were all from reliable word of mouth sources. I never dreamed how hard of job this was going to be emotionally. The quotes were very detailed and required many trips and different sub-contractors for just one bid. Tom was our last contractor to give us a quote and we knew after our first meeting he was the one to do our job. When i called the other two contractors to tell them we had to turn down their quote i thought i was breaking up with a boyfriend. Both of them wanted to know why....They all had amazing skill, very reliable, and talented yet they lacked the passion Tom had with what we wanted to accomplish...and most of all he had a high sense of practicality. He was able to take my far off ideas and made them work. Tom and his crew started our Basement in August of 2013 and Finished just before ThanksGiving. We started of with 1500 sqft of nothing and added two bedrooms with egress windows, play room, full bathroom, laundry room, utility room, three closets, and a huge rec room. Tom handled issues with ease and was open and honest with us when a problem was to big for him and always offered solutions. His men that did the work were very skilled and amazingly hard workers. Every detail was ran by us before they would do anything. Tom was very resourceful and was able to save us a great deal of money but never cut corners on anything we asked him to do. With every big project there are alway what I call "hiccups". I'd say that Tom did his best to resolve them...and even when one of the dry wallers left our door to our house open and let three chipmunks in our new space He came over on "his own time" and assisted us with the "hunt and capture of Alvin, Theodore, and Simon". When you put your $$ and trust in someone it can become stressful...not once did we ever feel this way with the whole process. Tom and crew always brought smiles, wonderful work ethics, and finished just a few week past expected due date...the "hiccups resolved" and we all enjoyed everything we put into it. My husband and I so grateful for Tom and His team...We highly recommend him to everyone we have a chance to. We love our new space! I am more than willing to send more photos upon request! “Since the purchase of my home in Portage Mi, 7 years ago, A Coffman construction has done numerous home improvements for me. Al and his team replaced all of my exterior doors with quality steel doors and dead bolt locks. Their team installed a beautiful glass brick window in my bathroom and a new surround in the shower. Last year they replaced a broken kitchen window with a new sliding window. In February of this year, the Coffman team did their best work yet. My dream of having a new kitchen became a reality. Within 2 weeks the Coffman team tore out my kitchen completely. They re-routed plumbing so that my dishwasher could be next to the sink instead of opposite the sink on the other side of the kitchen. The old out dated fluorescent lights in the ceiling were replaced with inset lighting with dimmers and the electrical outlets were updated to code including a reset outlet. Al Coffman is a certified plumber. He uses a certified electrician and for his kitchen updates he uses Mike Statler out of Schoolcraft. Floor to ceiling cupboards of high quality were installed in the kitchen and a new cut out for the refrigerator turned my small cluttered kitchen into a beautiful open work space that is user friendly and functional. The flooring, countertops, sink, faucet and cupboards from Statler are beautiful. The whole project from start to finish only took 2 weeks, but keep in mind, my kitchen is small. I did all the painting so that wasn't included in the cost of the makeover. I also purchased all the back splash as I wasn't sure I wanted backsplash when Al gave me the estimate. A complete kitchen remodel is not inexpensive, but to do it the right way with quality products is the only way to go. Also keep in mind that when you live in your home and remodel, It's messy and there is a lot of clean up afterward involved. But the end result is beautiful and functional and you will enjoy the makeover for years to come. Coffman construction did an excellent job on a timely basis. Coffman Construction does everything: siding, roofing, decks, indoor and outdoor remodeling. I won't have anyone else but Coffman construction do make overs in my home. They are reasonably priced, provide quality products and excellent service. My new kitchen is beautiful and I am so happy with the result in my home. Thanks Al and the Coffman construction team.
