“Tom and his team turned our dream into a reality this past year. In 2004, my husband and I plus our 2 month old son moved into our 3 bedroom ranch. This was a nice sized house, however, we decide to expand our family which slowly made our home much more smaller. in 2013 and a total of four children later... we set out to find a contractor to finish off our basement. We interviewed three general contractors per advice from friends and family. Our contractors that we interviewed were all from reliable word of mouth sources. I never dreamed how hard of job this was going to be emotionally. The quotes were very detailed and required many trips and different sub-contractors for just one bid. Tom was our last contractor to give us a quote and we knew after our first meeting he was the one to do our job. When i called the other two contractors to tell them we had to turn down their quote i thought i was breaking up with a boyfriend. Both of them wanted to know why....They all had amazing skill, very reliable, and talented yet they lacked the passion Tom had with what we wanted to accomplish...and most of all he had a high sense of practicality. He was able to take my far off ideas and made them work. Tom and his crew started our Basement in August of 2013 and Finished just before ThanksGiving. We started of with 1500 sqft of nothing and added two bedrooms with egress windows, play room, full bathroom, laundry room, utility room, three closets, and a huge rec room. Tom handled issues with ease and was open and honest with us when a problem was to big for him and always offered solutions. His men that did the work were very skilled and amazingly hard workers. Every detail was ran by us before they would do anything. Tom was very resourceful and was able to save us a great deal of money but never cut corners on anything we asked him to do. With every big project there are alway what I call "hiccups". I'd say that Tom did his best to resolve them...and even when one of the dry wallers left our door to our house open and let three chipmunks in our new space He came over on "his own time" and assisted us with the "hunt and capture of Alvin, Theodore, and Simon". When you put your $$ and trust in someone it can become stressful...not once did we ever feel this way with the whole process. Tom and crew always brought smiles, wonderful work ethics, and finished just a few week past expected due date...the "hiccups resolved" and we all enjoyed everything we put into it. My husband and I so grateful for Tom and His team...We highly recommend him to everyone we have a chance to. We love our new space! I am more than willing to send more photos upon request! The guys I worked with were experienced professionals, who each took pride in a job done to the best of their abilities. Of course, many builders take pride in the detailing of a job - custom case work, or in building an oversized cedar timber porch, but at HHB, the guys frame a job in the best way they know how, never rushing through a project at the cost of thorough quality. These are the kind of guys who recognize that you might have to cut something more than once for it to fit right and look best. The owners were on site often, reviewing what had been done with our boss (both our foreman and the owner of the company). In other words, they were very involved, and it was welcomed. They also were able to envision better what had been described on paper. They also have a woodshop, run by one guy who's been there for many years. His skill for woodworking is incredible, and the doors and cabinets he builds are beautiful.
