Ed and his team carried out renovation works at my home including knocking through two reception rooms and installing steel bar, levelling the kitchen floor and putting in a new kitchen with related plumbing and electrics. Ed and his team were a pleasure to deal with at all times. Ed is professional, courteous and pro-active - as was his team. We are delighted with the the finished result which Ed delivered on time and on budget. I would recommend Ed and his team to friends for similar projects.

Urban Design Build In 2016 we asked Urban to build a hip-to-gable loft extension. The build was very well managed from the start, with good attention to detail at every stage, from the structural engineering drawings right through to the final wall finish. The building team were polite, discreet and hard working, turning up promptly, and working thoughtfully and methodically throughout the day. Having building work done when you're living in can be pretty disruptive at times but the disturbance was always kept to a minimum and great care was taken to protect us and the existing walls, carpets and furniture from the inevitable dust and rubble created by the work. Loft extensions in a terrace require a steel beam that is supported by the party wall. There was no infringement on the other side of the party wall, which was important because we didn't want to fall out with the neighbours. We were invited to look over the work every week and they were happy to incorporate our requests for wall and window positioning and interior detailing before each section was started. The site manager is someone that you can have a laugh with, he's a good listener and was happy to explain the finer points of the building work. We had a strong sense that he and his team were bringing skills from their many previous projects and had already anticipated many of the concerns that we had along the way. Once the main structure of the extension was finished, equally polite and efficient subcontractors were brought in, on time and each finished their work to a high standard. Building regulations were explained and strictly adhered to, so there were no problems when each part of the regulations were signed off by the inspector. The work took a few months longer than anticipated, but remained on budget, and the quality of work has in our view been excellent value for money, particularly as the value of the house has now increased substantially beyond the cost of the building work. At the end of the job, we asked them to do a lot of extra work, this increased the budget slightly, but they were happy to fit the work in, and the extra cost was very reasonable. A year and a half after the build and it's as good as when it was finished; rock solid, no movement or cracks inside or out, in spite of huge temperature changes and very heavy downpours. It's comforting to know that the GRP roof, which they fit as standard, has a 25 year guarantee. If you want a smart, value-for-money builder that you can get on with, we would certainly recommend Urban Design Build.

We used Urban Design to rebuild our kitchen and dining area. It involved the removal of a load bearing wall and the correction of a number structural defects in the area. From the start they were straight forward to deal with. The contract was easy to understand and discuss. They offered practical advice in early stages of planning the refurbishment. The costs were accurate and we had very few unaccounted for additional expenses. Urban Design have all of the required contacts from designers to structural engineers including party wall agreement specialists and building regulation inspectors to ensure joined-up project execution. They also have access to skilled personnel capable of dealing with bespoke solutions to marry the new kitchen to the old Edwardian house. They were able to interact effectively with our kitchen fitters, and ventilation experts which meant that little time was lost between room preparation and kitchen fit-out. Finally, the follow up for a few minor snags has been timely. Overall we are very happy to recommend Urban Design for complex work involving structural remodelling and refurbishment of homes.

UDB built our rear extension and reconfigured our hall & downstairs space. They are an excellent, reliable and friendly builder. I could not fault the work, and quality of finish. They showed respect for our home snd were flexible and trustworthy. I could not recommend them enough.

Whilst no project is straight forward, we were pleased with the way in which Ed dealt with every challenge encountered and are delighted with the enhancements that his team have made to our home.

We've used Urban Design Build twice now. On both occasions they provided a clear breakdown of the costs and stuck to what was agreed, as well as a making a realistic assessment of the time the work would take. The various tradesmen turned up promptly each day, carried out the work to a high standard and cleaned up after themselves. We would like to thank Arek in particular - our main plasterer, decorator and carpenter on the second job - for his considerateness and professionalism.

Ed & the whole team at Urban Design Build were absolutely fantastic at every stage of our full-flat renovation. Both during the bid and the design stage they listened to what we wanted and were immensely helpful at providing useful expertise and guidance (including by talking me out of some of my more expensive ideas). They were great with our listed building consent application (and appeal!) and in finding the perfect specialists for things like cabinets and a glass wall between the entryway and the lounge. When things went wrong (we found asbestos, for example) they solved everything quickly and without fuss, and didn't let it delay the project too much. They've also been fantastic at fixing the snags since the project finished. I couldn't be happier with their work or their level of service, and I'd highly recommend them.

I have now worked with Urban Design Build on two large projects; a house refurbishment and remodelling and a flat refurbishment and remodelling in a mansion block. Both jobs had their challenges in terms of access and planning but all hurdles were met with good humour and overcome. Their knowledge of local property types in north London really helps. I would use them again.
