This is why I cannot in all good conscience recommend Hammonds.......
We were firstly mislead by the Sales Consultant regarding the installation date which after paying our deposit was extended by 2-weeks. Not a complete travesty but nonetheless it was less than honourable.
Hammonds automated communication service was excellent from the time of quotation through to the imminent arrival of the fitter.
One week prior to the fitters arrival we received a text message confirming his arrival between 8am - 10am on day 1. The duration for the fitting was scheduled to last 2.6 days.
On day 1, the fitter text at 8.30 to advise he would be arriving between 1pm - 2pm. Not what was agreed and somewhat frustrating because I had a booked a whole day off work. 2pm came and went as did 3, 4 & 5 - NO FITTER! NO EXPLANATION!
I had been in touch with a lovely lady called Karen at Hammonds who had text me earlier on day 1 to introduce herself and advise she would be looking after me whilst my installation was underway. Karen appeared to be as frustrated as I when the fitter failed to arrive. She advised me he was not responding to their messages! No one even knew if he had collected the furniture from the Hammonds warehouse earlier that morning. But at 2pm it was closed and no-one could check.
To cut a very long and frustrating story short, the fitter arrived on day 2 & 3 long after the time he advised us he would be arriving, he proceeded to work for 6-hours each day, leaving by 3pm and was often talking on his phone. Because he hadn't completed the work it was necessary to return on the Saturday taking up more of my time.
As of today (7-days post installation), I have not received any contact from Hammonds to check if the fitter actually arrived on last Saturday and completed the work, to ask if I am happy with the installation, to apologise for the stress endured and the time that the fitter wasted or to apologise for eating into my Saturday! This is very poor customer service.
The quality of the fit was very good however, I have previously used Sharps and Mark Baker Bespoken Wardrobes in previous homes where I had the equally good quality and the fitter arrived on time and finished in the time period agreed.

Terrible terrible customer service - months later and hours of lost work and they still cannot order the correct supplies. No one cares in the slightest and an offer of £200 compensation off a £14k order is laughable. Would never use them again and looking to see what legal recourse is available.

Really poor customer service. After spending over £25,000 with this company, the service currently being received is atrocious. After having multiple units fitted in our house, and never having an issue before, we are now seeing what their customer service is really like, now there’s a problem.
Instead of the carpet being rolled back, the fitter insisted on removing the whole carpet and underlay for the whole room which I now have to pay to have fitted again.
All because he wanted to cut the wood in the room when he could have cut anywhere else.
They don’t want to know even though it doesn’t say that the fitter has to do that. And for the money I’ve paid them you’d think they would want a happy customer who has returned over and over. Won’t ever again now.

Bellway homes new build 2014. 2019some unit fronts delaminated and they replaced saying any further delamination on other units would be covered under the 10 year gaurantee. One unit has just delaminated and they now say there was never a 10 year gaurantee, only 5 years. Don't touch this group.

Hammonds ethos "Measure twice and cut once" went out the window with our installation. I called Hammonds part way through the installation as it was clear the fitter had no idea what he was doing.
Customer Services advised they had assigned the wrong fitter to the job and that he was NOT qualified to do our installation which was classed as a red job.
I had an appointment booked before the fitter left for someone from Hammonds to come and assess the work and when the fitter came, he was "speechless" at the mess we had been left with.
We were immediately booked in for a complete refit.
Refit complete, we were advised that we would be compensated £50 for our patience to put towards a takeaway. Bearing in mind our wardrobe cost over £3000.
Fast forward 6 weeks and the wardrobe has disconnected itself from the wall, meaning the door catches every time it is opened and closed, and the side panel moves away from the wall.
I called Hammonds and was asked to send photos which I did, I got a voicemail the week after saying we were booked in for someone to come sort the issue...appointment is 2 months later! I called Hammonds again and asked if there was an appointment available sooner, the lady said she was surprised that we have to wait so long and would try and get us something sooner.
Over 1 week later someone else calls to confirm the appointment cant be brought forward. I asked if this is normal for a customer to wait 2 months for a product to be fixed, to which she replied we have no guideline we just fit you in when we can, it also doesn't help that you live in Scotland as we don't have many people available to go up there.
I cannot stress enough how horrible our experience has been with Hammonds, I wish we could turn back time and give our money to a company that gives their customers the service they deserve.

I am deeply dissatisfied with the service and mis leading information I was provided, which involved me providing personal details and accepting a credit check in my name for a product which was not available.
Throughout this process, I as one customer has had to deal with 4 different individuals who have each contradicted each other, called each other out and also stated incorrect information has been provided by one another. The service I have received on this occasion is unprofessional and inadequate.
It all started poorly when Sam Boffy failed to provide key information when discussing the design, such as the requirement to remove carpets. Sam provide many versions of the design, all of which included a side angle bookcase, which cannot be offered as a service or product Hammonds are able to provide their customers.
Sam also assured us a call would be made to us the following Monday to arrange our survey and fitting, this was not confirmed until 11 days after our design visit and so of course then fitting dates which would have been available originally were no longer available.
We settle on a date which worked, to be now be told this is no longer possible because of Sam’s errors in what he advertised the products as, in which has now delayed every process.
Sam’s solution is for us to pay additional £437 to Hammonds for his mistake to agree on a design which resembles our original design or walk away with the loss of nearly a month going through this process with a baby on the way, loss of earnings, providing personal details to a untrustworthy source and a unnecessary print on my credit score.
Unfortunately out of all this, I have fallen a victim to being mis sold a product by being given false information regarding that product. And now I am left empty handed, out of pocket and with a huge pressure on time to find a solution some how or another.

AVOID THIS COMPANY. My wardrobe was installed in 2012. At first it looked great and worked fine. After a few years, I noticed the laminate that's fixed onto the doors starting to come loose. A couple of years later and the entire laminate had come unstuck on 3 doors. It was fully hanging off the door and flopping about. At this point I got in touch with Hammonds and after some lengthy conversations they finally agreed to come out and replace the faulty doors - with the exact same product. Obviously my first question was, will this happen again? I was assured that the fault was a one-off due to issues with that particular batch of adhesive. Hammonds confidently told me that the new wardrobe doors were of the highest quality and would last a long time. Five years on and the exact same thing has happened to the doors which were replaced. After again raising the issue with Hammonds in January 2023, this time they were not interested. They refuse to accept responsibility, won't send someone to examine the wardrobe, and have washed their hands of the problem. .
Issue #1: QUALITY OF MATERIALS. They use a low quality adhesive to fix the laminate onto the wood. When the technician came to replace the doors, he admitted that this was not an isolated incident and that many customers have had issues with the laminate falling off. Hammonds know about this issue, yet they don't tell customers upfront and they refuse to use a higher quality adhesive to prevent the problem.
Issue # 2: GUARANTEE IS MEANINGLESS. Here is a direct quote from a customer services email: "The 10 year guarantee period begins upon the initial installation date. Whilst I do note that you did have three doors replaced in 2017, I can confirm that we do not extend the guarantee on this basis as this is a goodwill gesture service". In other words, they install a faulty product, replace it with another faulty product, and then decide that the guarantee does not apply any more.
Issue # 3: CUSTOMER SERVICE. It took an unacceptably long time for Hammonds to respond to my complaint: 2 months from the issue being raised to their decision. Even worse than this were the ridiculous suggestions offered by a customer service rep over a phone call. Why don’t I try painting the doors in a similar colour, or even pulling all the laminate off and just have exposed wooden doors (cheap looking MDF by the way).
Issue # 4: PRICE. This product cost over £3,000 in 2012 - in 2023 prices, that is around £4,000. At this price point, I expect quality and a lifespan of longer than 5 years.
This is a warning to all potential customers: take your hard earned money elsewhere.

Could not be happier with the work Hammonds' have done. See for yourself. The whole experience was stress free and easy.
Planning to have my bedroom done next. I wouldn't use anyone else but Hammonds. Why would you not support local families in local businesses?

3 installations - spent thousands - 1 totally unacceptable - colour match of doors and surround even stated by Hammonds employee as extremely diverse and that they had not seen such a contrast before - although Hammonds senior staff state that it is correct and as advertised in their showrooms - I would like to see where!
Extremely poor customer service - will not liaise with me regarding any kind of solution - will not visit my home - fobbed off with what I presume are standard responses - even asked one employee if they had even opened the photographs I had sent - feel as if they did at that moment as that is when they described the difference as extreme.
Hammonds now not communicating with me and will not engage in any resolution to my complaint.

Extremely poor quality wardrobes, appalling customer service, avoid!
Paid just under £10,000 for fitted wardrobes - for that price you expect nothing but the best - however with Hammonds you get no such thing.
After the initial installation took place, we discovered almost every single door and panel were extremely faulty - highly visible lumps and bumps in the finish, sharp corners, chips, panels and edges that were different colours and finishes, and edging strips that began peeling off within 24 hours of fitting.
As a result of this, almost everything but the main carcasses of the wardrobes required removal, resupplying and refitting. So the second fitting happens some weeks later and guess what... Most all of the replacement doors etc. feature exactly the same faults as the first.
So all of these then had to be removed and replaced for the third time... Yet things still weren't anywhere near right, resulting in a fourth removal and refit!
Finally the quality had improved to a reasonable though far from acceptable standard, but by this point we were completely fed up with the months of disruption to our lives that we wanted nothing further to do with Hammond's Furniture (more fool they as we had originally intended to have them supply wardrobes to a further four bedrooms in our new house).
Hammond's after-sales got in touch to say we were entitled to compensation, which naturally we welcomed... That is until they made the derisory offer of £200.
We replied telling them that this was totally unacceptable, particularly as their negligence had caused me to have to take a further 10 days off work to accommodate the refits, at which point they upped their offer of compensation to a paltry £400, which we again refused to accept, resulting in them making a third and final offer of £550.
So in terms of time alone (not even considering the cost of redecoration we're facing as a result of end panels having to be removed and refitted, the disruption to our lives and the stress involved) Hammond's Furniture value my time at approximately £55 per day. I can assure you I lost a great deal more than £55 per day in work.
And just to add insult to injury, we were threatened with legal action for our final payment on account before they'd even resolved the matter!
Don't waste your money (and time) with this woeful company, they're an absolute disgrace.

Since the beginning of our engagement with Hammonds, we have unfortunately been disappointed with how the company and its employees has gone about things at pretty much every step:
1) Our original designer called us on Sunday at 10:00pm, inebriated at a wedding asking if they could move our appointment to the afternoon so they could have a good time
2) After speaking with the Regional Lead, our second designer was fine, but then it turned out that her measurements were off by quite a way which affected the actual design of the wardrobes and we had to make changes with the pre-fitter
3) Hammonds moved our original fitting date (11th July) with only 3 working days notice. They called to inform rather than ask, and weren't apologetic. After pushing back on this, I received no update after 24 hours, and had to call Hammonds for an update rather than be called back. Once I gave my name and address, the line coincidentally dropped out, so I had to call back and have further conversations. During this time they had updated the new date on the online portal, again, without discussing this with me. Eventually after escalating to the Regional Lead again, and highlight the incredibly poor communication from their staff, we kept the original fitting date
4) Original fitting was then supposed to be over two days, the 11th and 12th, but due to the issues above, the wardrobes weren't ready to be collected by the fitters so ended up having to do it all on the 12th July
To be fair, the fitters did an excellent job and managed to get it done in one day. However, I learnt that they are external to Hammonds which doesn't surprise me.
Overall, we ended up going with Hammonds due to the quality of materials vs the cost, as the likes of Sharps were FAR more expensive. However, after this experience, we won't be coming back to Hammonds again.
