I help people who have a multitude of belongings, to declutter and organise their homes, giving physical and mental space. I can help sort paperwork and at the same time put systems in place to help keep on top of it. I tackle areas or whole houses that are full of clutter. Often there is so much to sort you don't know where to start and having someone in to help will ensure a focus on one area at a time. Sorting what is important (or what gives 'Joy' in the Marie Kondo way) will separate out what has no real function or purpose and can be sold, recycled or tipped. I have an interest in hoarding which has been recognised as a mental health condition and can impact on someones life so much that their (or their neighbours) safety or health is affected. Often other agencies are involved such as the fire service, social services, GP or environmental health. These will try and work with the hoarder but sometimes this results in an enforced 'clear out' which is usually quick. This doesn't usually help the hoarder resolve their issues and they may end up reverting to the same patterns of behaviour again. It may be that the person would prefer someone who is not in an 'official' role to help them before things get to this stage. This can take time (sometimes months or years) to form new behaviours to prevent re-occurrence
