We are a friendly, practical and inspiring interior design team offering a full design and project management service, or just design-only as needed. We don’t impose our style onto you, but spend time listening to your thoughts and ideas to create a scheme that fits your lifestyle, aspirations and needs. Our projects range from creating custom blinds to re-designing a bedroom to refurbishing whole houses. We also take on extensions, loft conversions and new builds. Option 1 - Full Design Scheme: This includes concept ideas, space planning including kitchen and bathroom design, digital mood boards, fabric samples, furniture sourcing and design of built in pieces, ideas for soft furnishings, window dressings, lighting plans, artwork, accessories, unique pieces. Option 2 - Design Consultancy by the hour: This is perfect for the client who wants to dip their toe into the water, or clarify the level of input they require. Alternatively, if you need a new blind, or want to refurbish a bathroom, update a child’s bedroom or just need a colour consultation, this service may suit you best. We have worked with Amanda on a number of projects carrying out bathroom refurbs and decorating projects. It’s alway great working with Amanda because her style gives us as a contractor something to get excited about. Her combination of colours and textures means we can look forward to seeing the outcome of end product as much as the client. We have worked with a number of interior designers over the years but Amanda is definitely up there as one of the best! And we’re not just saying that.

I have been working with Amanda on the refurbishment of my Edwardian Terraced House in Crouch End for most of 2020. So far we have completed the revamp of the Kitchen/dining room, snug, lounge and main bedroom. She is a pleasure to work particularly as she manages to find a great balance between listening to my ideas and introducing different approaches/styles that I had not considered and may take me outside my initial comfort zone but in all cases have worked well. She also has good connections with lots of local suppliers as well as the bigger retailers. She is prepared to go the extra mile to find you the right solution if you do not like the initial suggestions. We are very happy with the end results and will continue to work with Amanda to complete the remaining rooms in the house.

The Shutter Shop

We have a long established relationship with Amanda as her shutter supplier for her interior design projects. She is personable and professional and great to work with as a supplier. Her work is of a very high standard, every project is unique and she certainly creates enviable homes that we would like to live in ourselves! We rate her highly.

We purchased a property that needed a refresh and general makeover. Amanda did a really nice job of helping us navigate the choices and ensure that we were able to achieve a complementary upgrade. She helped us to put in fresh flooring, room redecoration, new kitchen top, new light fixtures and curtains. The end result was great and Amanda was able to balance our preferences (and furniture) and equally ensure that the end result was well designed. The kitchen and bedroom in particular look great. I would definitely recommend Amanda for anyone considering some home improvement and needing professional guidance.

Amanda made the plans we had for our extension more cohesive and less overwhelming . With builders, architects and structural engineers each giving their opinions the end polished look was in danger of being lost . Amanda helped structure our ideas at the beginning stage of the build and we will be looking for her advice again for all the finishing touches and details that turn it form a shell to a home.

Met Amanda at the Grand Designs Live event in London May 2018 for a brief expert consultation on interior design. Brought my architect's plans (we have a few permutations, none of which are quite right yet) and set her the task of suggesting ways to fix a dilemma in the layout of the ground floor. She was one of four I met with. By far the best. Very creative ideas, sensible, confident and strong in suggesting ideas, but responsive to the brief and could regroup to suggest an alternative quickly and easily. Lovely manner. Am early in my project, so haven't thought further than the layouts and getting good builders and project management, but could easily imagine working with her, if I could afford her! Based on a very brief interaction with her and several competitors at GDL and elsewhere, I was really impressed. Didn't give 5 stars because I haven't actually worked with her so don't feel right about giving perfect stars based on a brief encounter.

Amanda has been absolutely excellent on our house renovation. It started out as a 4-6 month project but it has extended and extended and extended (in the way these things usually do, but not because of anything Amanda had done). Amanda has stayed with us every step of the way - offering support and constructive advice when our frustration with the builders threatened to overtake. On more than one occasion, she went above and beyond to help us with things that were not in her brief. Amanda is knowledgeable and creative; she has happily incorporated our ideas along with hers, going backwards and forwards, until we feel we have the right outcome. She set our expectations and managed these very well - updating as she needed to by phone and/or email and/or face-to-face meetings. When making proposals for purchases, design ideas, etc, she always offered more than one alternative and this was very helpful in managing our budget. Amanda is very professional and brings with this a lovely, warm style and sense of humour. I highly recommend her.

It's always a pleasure to work with Amanda and having had a great experience working with her on Houzz events she was an obvious pro to turn to for help with my personal renovation project. Having finalised all the build work and material choices over a year ago I was still feeling rather lost and in need of help with the final touches and guidance on how to "bring everything together" and particularly on how to integrate existing items that had sentimental value and I wanted to keep but had no idea how they could fit in. Amanda agreed to come round for a one-off consultation where she went through every room with me and advised on what would work where and this really helped to give me some focus and drive to finish each room step by step. After the consultation, she sent across a pack with suggested products which has really helped guide me and has allowed me to see the light at the end of a long tunnel! The new dining chairs that she suggested arrived last week and I'm delighted with them and so happy that I listened to her advise. I would 100% hire Amanda again.

We worked with Amanda for Grand Designs Live Excel London 2015. Amanda borrowed our Bridge Table and chairs for her beautiful space and returned the goods in perfect condition and even sent us a very nice hand written note to say thank you. We can highly recommend Amanda, she is easy to communicate with, very professional and has a great eye for mixing colours. She was organised and efficient and we look forward to working with her again.

The Microfactory

We worked with Amanda on an office refit. We were delivering her design on site from soft strip to redecoration and were responsible for designing and building the desks. We worked closely together to make sure what we had designed fitted her scheme and the clients brief. She is eminently professional with lots of good ideas and a very good communicator. I look forward to working with her again.

Amanda came to my house and offered invaluable help on a small scale project which involved choosing furnishings and fabrics for a small sitting room. Also advising on kitchen colour scheme, lighting and window shutters. Blinds were provided throughout the house and other lighting solutions were recommended. We were delighted with the outcome and would highly recommend this company for their care and professionalism.

Adventures in Furniture

We worked with Amanda for a Grand Designs Live Room Set and she was a pleasure to work with in all respects. She was organised and efficient and has a very positive outlook. She communicates well - prompt and pleasant. She concentrated on making the project easy at every stage from the order to the installation. We would highly recommend her and hope to work with her in the future.

We had a 30 minute slot with Amanda at Grand Designs 2016. She was very helpful with ideas for our kitchen renovation and came up with an idea that we hadn't thought of before. We found her very friendly, approachable and seemed very knowledgable about what she does. We were very grateful to have had some free advice. I gave 4 stars purely because we did not spend a great deal,of time with Amanda, so didn't feel it would be fair to give 5 stars.

Having lived in a 200 year old cottage for over 30 years we moved to a brand new very modern, much larger house. The build was all complete - but totally empty and none of our previous furniture was suitable (apart from being worn out!). The task ahead was frankly overwhelming but I was so lucky to meet Amanda Neilson - she has turned a trauma into a joy. She has great ideas but really listens too. I would never have had the confidence to have bought the lovely pieces she has sourced and recommended; she has encouraged me to be a bit bolder - in fact, MUCH bolder; and I love that. But it's lovely because she doesn't just go for the expensive, designer, she sees potential in all sorts - and even like some of my quirky little finds! ... And has a wonderful of saying "not so keen on that one Alison!" When she can't find the piece to suit - she designs it and we go bespoke! She is such a lovely person too - which makes the task all the more fun!

This is my second time to work with Amanda and I could not recommend her more highly. She has a real sense of what works and a great eye for colour. Amanda was quick to pick up, and build on, our own style - but she has also helped us think about new options without being pushy. She is open, friendly, calm, and patient. Working with Amanda has been a great investment that is also saving us time and taking away the stress.

Amanda Neilson Interiors provided Turnkey Consulting with an end-to-end interior design service for our recent office renovations. Our brief was to stretch us a little in our boundaries and to give us a creative, professional space that would encourage innovative thinking. Their scheme suggested by Amanda's team was a vintage theme incorporating our company colours (orange and grey) together with interesting wallpaper patterns, fake grass and even a putting hole which our clients love! From an excellent initial concept through to selection and placement of the artwork (vintage advertising from our clients) and accessories every aspect of their service was faultless and excellent value for money. We were also impressed by how adaptable Amanda's team were to the changing timelines of our building team and their ability to respond quickly to requests for info/clarification on the details that made the difference. The results absolutely hit the brief for us and Amanda and her team were a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend.
