“I own a 1920's Gardener's cottage that was once part of a country estate, run down and falling apart at the seams, unlived in for many years. After making the structural repairs, I needed someone to come in and take over the project, creating what I hoped would become a magical guest hideaway. I had seen several homes that Kathleen Schippers had renovated and I fell in love with her work. She has a wonderful sense of space and color, creating rooms that invite you in. I wanted someone who could make the space practical and feel lived in, while at the same time creating an excitement and beauty for my family and guests. Kathleen did it all! The project was finished in a timely manner and on budget. My expectations were exceeded and now everyone who walks into the cottage is absolutely wowed. She has blended the old with the new, and though it retains all the charm of the 1920's design, it softly brings in some contemporary elements as well. As soon as you walk in the front door, you feel as though you have entered into this beautiful space, but you totally feel at home. Best of all, Kathleen has a down to earth style that makes you feel so comfortable when you're working together. She listens and incorporates what you are hoping to create into her method of design, and you feel very much a part of all the planning and decisions. Kathleen made doing this project fun, and that in itself is a testimony to her work.”

“Shoshana decorated the first floor of my very open house--she did a great job coordinating all of the rooms through color and texture but the house doesn't look too "matchy." Additionally she decorated my master bedroom, sitting room and guest bedroom. I absolutely love every room that she did, think she is fantastic to work with, she is incredibly talented and I would not hesitate to recommend her!”

“I remodeled my entire first floor, including major demolition of walls and moving and new construction of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, flooring, and walls. I hired Kim to do custom painting on the walls and trim in my new dining room. My new renovation has a European Old World style. Kim Petruska did an excellent job meeting my vision for the space. She created a look on the the walls that made the walls look worn and antiqued exactly as you would see in old world Italy. She also painted panel shutters around all four of my windows that look like the real thing. Many people who have entered my dining room have mistaken the shutters for the real thing and are very surprised when they find that they are actually just painted on the wall. They look very three dimensional. Kim even incorporated the lighting through the windows and mimicked the shadowing that would actually occur if the shutters were real. Kim took a very real vision of the room and painted that vision on the wall. Additionally, I had some existing mural work on the walls in my foyer that was done years ago by a custom muralist other than Kim. Because I demolished some of the walls in the area, some patching up had to be done to some of the already muraled walls in my foyer. Kim was able to fix the patching by replicating the existing mural work. It is very hard to duplicate someone else's style, and Kim did it flawlessly. You would not even know that the room was muraled by two different people. I highly recommend Kim Petruska for custom painting and mural work. She was able to envision the look I wanted and create it on my walls. I am 100% satisfied with her level of work.”

She talked us into closing a window where the shower would be, and it was the best decision. She also picked out the tiles and colors. It is beautiful.
