“Elizabeth Bemment has done a fantastic job on the interiors of the contemporary 10,000 m2 house I have developed in Quinta do Lago in Portugal. Elizabeth achieved the broad creative concept necessary to attract to the occupiers and to suit both family life and large-scale entertaining. Elizabeth is a pleasure to work with. She is attentive and dedicated. Unlike many interior designers I have found she provides a full and efficient interior design service including space planning, assembly details, lighting and electrical layouts as well as selecting, scheduling and procuring the decoration, furniture, fabrics and light fittings. She was always willing to amend the designs to meet my budget. Elizabeth’s design layouts form a seamless flow of spaces and create transparency and views across the terraces and pool into the gardens and towards the sea. Her choice of materials and lighting have produced effective atmospheres for the difference rooms; the elegant pool hall, warm cinema room, cosy corner around a two-way fireplace to name a few. The bedrooms are particularly successful with specially designed bed backs and light fittings. The main bathroom with additional outside shower has been called the best in the country. Her choice of finishes, furniture, fabrics and lighting go perfectly with the Mediterranean feeling of the house. Elizabeth’s detailed design of the joinery, glazing, hard finishes distinguish the project from its competitors. The copper front doors were brought India. Everything went as anticipated and I am pleased that the end result has received considerable acclaim.”

“I hired Charmaine to design a makeover for my hallway and living room in the summer of 2015. We met and discussed my expectations and likes and dislikes and Charmaine presented me with her proposal a few weeks later. I was thrilled with the presentation, Charmaine had captured everything I wanted and I have ended up with a very stylish and elegant living room and hallway. We had a few bumps along the road with delivery dates and unavailability of decorators but it was all worth it. “Using Torn & Cotton to help us with the design of our lounge was our very first experience of using Interior Designers. We are renovating a Victorian house in Bedford which had stood empty and unloved for seven years before we moved in. The house has needed significant work to make it habitable, including new water main, full rewire and complete heating system. We've been living here for three years, and (with some blood, plenty of sweat and definitely a few tears) have completed around 75% of the renovations. We engaged with Torn & Cotton at a point where we were quite exhausted by it all (the decisions, big and small, are endless!) and we needed help to figure out how to make one of the most important rooms in the house look and feel perfect - the lounge. On our first meeting we had a lovely chat and had a tour of the house. Charlotte and Kerrie asked plenty of questions about our tastes, budget, and lifestyle. They were quick to pick up on all the important factors - and we were convinced that they would help us to 'be brave' and pull together an amazing design. On presenting the initial concepts, it was clear that Torn & Cotton had understood us and our brief perfectly. They came up with a stunning design and room layout that was faithful to the age and original features of the house, but that also pulled it smartly into the 21st century. From there, T&C continued to help us by developing a shopping list of items including furniture, artwork, lighting and fabrics. They were able to find items to fit our budget from many sources, including some beautiful antiques. Their creative skills continued as they provided advice for the layout of our art wall. They were adaptable, flexible and patient; and very sensitive and responsive to our needs. Our lounge is very nearly finished, although there are some delays on our furniture deliveries and curtains due to the Covid-19 situation. We are utterly delighted with our new room and are so pleased that we had the services of Torn & Cotton to help us with the design.
