Interior Folk is an Award Wining interior design studio passionate about creating stylish contemporary spaces that are easy to live in. We are down to earth with a range of services so do talk to us about how we can help you whether it's sourcing or advising on fabrics, paint colours, lighting or a full design service. We are used to working virtually too with video calls. Our commitment to design is recognised by our consecutive awards by Houzz, most recently winning the Best of Houzz Design 2020. We are named by House & Garden Magazine on their guide to interior design professionals in The List 2020 as well as having 'One to Watch' status. We are proud to be Sussex Interior Designer of the Year voted by Lux Magazine. We have worked at the forefront of Interior Design for the last two decades, we offer accessible options from advice and decoration of one room through to full residential and commercial refurbishments with full drawing packages. With a friendly and practical approach, we work in collaboration with our clients our aim is to bring authenticity & style, leaving our clients with a happy home they can enjoy for many years. We have expertise in designing bespoke rugs, furniture and joinery as well as lighting design and an increasing interest and knowledge of sustainable design, wellness and healthy home design . Our attention to detail, and our relationships with local craftsmen, artists and manufacturers ensure high quality work. Most of our work is through repeat business and frequent referrals, we often work further afield with our repeat clients on their projects around the UK and Internationally.

We asked Emma for advice regarding potentially changing a bedroom to a bathroom. The meeting with Emma was very constructive and she went away and drew up two options for us, which we are currently considering. It was quite a task but Emma did it all under a week. I was extremely impressed with her service.

I had a client who was returning to the country and looking at buying a new property. It was a new build/renovation and he needed some help with interiors. He is incredibly particular about design with very standards. Having worked with Emma for over a year on her business, and knowing her level of diligence, creativity, and professionalism I had no hesitation in recommending Emma to my client. The result was fabulous, and my client was very happy. Emma is unusual in her field in that she has all the creative thinking you could hope for, a rare ability to listen and deeply understand her clients (and design for them not her own ego), AND the skills to deliver and project manage. I can't tell you how rare that combination is in the design world. She's also a pleasure to deal with. What more can I say? If you need some top-class interior design with Emma you can't go wrong.

We were recommended to work with Emma by a friend who had her apartment redesigned by her with great results recently. We had been in our family home for many years and needed help to update it and reconfigure it to suit our now teenage children, the layout wasn’t working for us with various problems such as only one large TV room and not enough storage. Emma suggested various new configurations, with lots of ideas that we hadn’t thought about. We chose one and are thrilled with the result, our family now has shared space and also a teenage lounge for when they have friends over, plus I now have a small quiet space to practice yoga in which I love. This wasn’t something I would have thought we could fit in, but Emma’s clever design seems to give something for all of us. We really love our updated family home and now feel we want to stay here for a long time now.

I would definitely give this designer 5 stars! She was absolutely fantastic when it came to trying to get the perfect paint colour for my living room (of which my decorator was waiting for an immediate decision). Whilst I was stuck in lockdown with all paint shops closed for viewing and trying to homeschool my two children, I saw the perfect looking colour room on a project of Emma Kewleys, I called her up in a moment of desperation hoping to get some vibes as to what the colour she had used may be. Emma answered her phone immediately and was extremely helpful giving me a lot of time on the phone to discuss the project I was looking at and give a lot of helpful tips and advice on paint colours. I was extremely appreciative of her kindness in helping me out with her knowledge and I would certainly like to use her on another project.

We hired Emma to design the interiors for our seaside holiday home and we are really pleased that we did. Emma showed us lots of mood boards and involved us in making the decisions, her direction was always spot on. She has a brilliant eye for colour, we love the linen fabrics, textures and finishes which give it a holiday home feel, but in an original way. Emma has the knowledge of all the right suppliers, sourcing us great furniture, rugs and lighting that we wouldn’t have found, but is the perfect fit for us. All in all we are very happy indeed.

Emma has done a fantastic job designing my house. It hadn’t been renovated for years and I was keen to refurbish it and modernise it with a contemporary style. However, I was a bit lost on how to achieve this. Also the more I looked into it I realised how time consuming it would be, I have a busy work schedule and this just wasn’t possible. Luckily Emma and the Interior Folk team reassured me that they would manage this and took the reins with designing and sourcing everything I need from bathrooms to carpets and light fittings. The deadlines and my guide budget have been stuck to and the design is perfect for me, it’s modern and fresh but not hotel like. I would strongly recommend their services.

We have moved to our retirement home,& just did not know where to start, as it needed adapting & refreshing but didn't know were to start. Emma spent much time at beginning of the project listening & understanding exactly our plans for the future The result has reached our expectations, as Emma suggest things we never thought of, making their space work with so many allowances for future, keeping it flexible for any eventuality. She persuaded to move kitchen to relocate to a sunny aspect which has been transformational ideas, now we spend so much time lounging on comfy sofas & cooking in our light space. Overall we are thrilled with fresh designs and clever layout, it really works for us & extremely happy with the the end results

I contacted Interior Folk after finding we couldn't finish the refurbishment of our large family house, we needed someone to help us achieve the look we wanted and pull it all together. Emma worked mainly on the ground floor rooms including the kitchen dining room, study, playroom. One of the designs we love the most is in the living area where Emma suggested his amazing feature gas fire with a flat screen tv above, she designed the whole wall with storage, all finished I a textured timber finish. The whole family loves this room which was previously unused and is now the centre of our home. The playroom storage units design and colours are brilliant and mean we can keep this space tidy and organised. We are thrilled with the end result and would highly recommend Emma to others. She is easy to work with and very thorough, so many details are considered with lots of ideas that we would never have thought of ourselves. Our home now feels like it all works together, something we really struggled to achieve ourselves.

Emma really helped navigate us through a renovation on our home, being a grade II listed country property meant there are certain challenges to overcome. They created new furniture layouts and colours schemes for our 5 bedroom house to give it a total refresh. Cleverly they came up with ideas and solutions to problems including forming a large new family bathroom which could fit in a freestanding bath which we were lacking before. They had site meetings with the conservation officer and our architect as we needed listed building consent for removing an internal wall to make the larger bathroom, and which happily we got. Every part of the design was considered to work well with our period features using natural materials, linens, limestones and local timbers. Emma chose paint colours, in lime based paints, that we would not have been bold enough to choose on our own but complement the furniture and curtains that we kept in various rooms. Emma and Matthew are really knowledgeable about listed homes and knew the requirements and how to get over any hurdles, really they managed it all the hard work for us. They are a friendly team to work with, so professional and creative too always coming up with lots of ideas we hadn’t thought of. We are very happy in our home now and enjoying living with the period features alongside the all the comforts of a well-planned modern home.
