Fifi McGee | Renovation Courses & Interior Design

I paid £19 for the 'Plan your Extension' bundle. Ok not loads of money, but still the use of the word 'bundle' is stretching it. Essentially it's a 30 minute video (that was at some point free on YouTube as it ends by asking you to 'like and subscribe'), and an extension spreadsheet template. Not a total rip off, just felt it was a classic case of over promising with marketing and under delivering in reality. Overall, a bit 'meh'.

In 2023, we bought our dream home in a quintessential English village, which needed a complete renovation. Wanting to get it right the first time, we opted not to use an architect* and discovered Fiona through her FiFi McGee training courses. From the outset, Fi was incredibly supportive and really helped shape our vision. She provided fantastic advice with floor plan suggestions and carefully created mood boards for each room, all perfectly in line with the modern country/traditional English look we were after. Having these designs ready ahead of time made the countless decisions that arise during a renovation so much more manageable. When you're in the thick of it, you're bombarded with endless choices, and having everything planned—from lighting and ironmongery to electrical socket styles—was a huge relief. Fi not only delivered excellent designs but also understood the stress of the process and kept our spirits up when things got tough. Her designs gave us something to focus on, keeping us anchored to the end goal amidst the inevitable mid-project chaos. Fiona is highly skilled, thorough, and a pleasure to work with. We wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a designer who combines talent with genuine support. Five stars! *We eventually had to work with an architect and a structural engineer for certain more technical aspects of our project, but we would advise anyone that working with an architect on a low—to mid-budget domestic renovation project is very challenging. We would not make that mistake again and would either engage directly with a structural engineer or use a design-and-build firm from the outset.

I completed the Renovation Course after buying a 1950’s property. The course content was super relevant and the quality of the materials amazing. I picked up so many useful ideas on how to plan and manage our renovation and some brilliant insights into where to start on designing the interior to create a cohesive look. The Reno Club group was a friendly space to ask all those questions that only other people going through a renovation can answer! I got so much great advice from the group experts. Fi has provided us 1:1 support during our house renovation and complete re-design of our open plan kitchen-diner/ living room. We have recently purchased a house that needs a full renovation, something we've never done before. We were feeling totally overwhelmed by how to approach the project until we stumbled upon the Fifi McGee website. It's such a treasure trove of resources for anyone doing work on a house, however big or small your project. We were really struggling to get our heads around the interior design part of our project, so decided to sign up for the 'Home Design Lab' course. It's been absolutely brilliant. I love Fi's style myself, but what's great about the course is that it caters for all styles and tastes. It really helps you to hone in on what your own style preferences and priorities are, and also to make sensible decisions within budget. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course to anyone needing help with home design!

I purchased the renovation course last October as we were buying our "forever home" which needs a lot of work. As I was really overwhelmed with the whole process I found this course was so helpful and informative that all of the sudden I felt I knew exactly what I need to do. So from being overwhelmed I got really excited! Thank you Fi, you saved a few grey hairs! I am also working with Fi with interior design of our new house and she has also prepared an amazing design pack which looks absolutely incredible! I adore Fi's style and her ability to create lovely homely space. The level of detail, colour options, materials and all the notes make so much sense and it is really easy to get a feel of the space even if the extension hasn't been built yet! We purchased Fifi McGee's Renovation Course a while ago and we absolutely love it! Back then, we were in the process of searching for a house but we knew we wanted more of a project so we decided to get it beforehand so that we knew what we were getting ourselves into. It's particularly helpful for us as both me and my husband are expats and we didn't have the slightest idea where to start with renovating a house in the UK. We've learned loads from it and it has saved us an incredible amount of time!

We are embarking on the journey to renovate our property. Trawling through the internet, there are so many guides, blogs and 'hacks'. We then found Fifi McGee's blog and were instantly hooked on her original and insightful content. We have since enrolled on her How to Renovate a House course and it's been invaluable to us. Learning from someone who has experience, who was already walked the path you're about to go on, is so valuable. We're confident about this journey, because we have the support of this course.

We are about to start renovating the ground floor of our house and wanted to approach the planning and ideas with some guidance and pointers to get the best out of the work we're about to undertake. After sending through our plans to Fifi, we had a wonderful zoom chat to discuss them, with Fifi talking through pointers and tips and raising interesting questions for me to also consider. It felt like I was speaking to a friend I have known for a long time! Fifi is warm, welcoming and even though our call ended up running over it wasn't a problem for her which was a really nice extra touch. It has left me with lots of ideas to research that I hadn't thought of and eager to get this renovation started ASAP! I will be using more of Fifi's services in the future as our build gets underway and would definitely recommend her.

I just love Fifi McGee's style so signed up for the course to help me with a renovation project knocking a room through to make a kitchen diner. I found the course to be really well laid out, simple to follow and with great information. It's really helped me to focus as I was finding it quite overwhelming not quite knowing where to start. Fifi McGee's How to Renovate a House online course is an excellent way to boost a renovation plan for your home. It is well structured, with helpful tools and techniques designed to support you having a clear plan all the way through your renovation. It helps to ensure you manage your budget from the start and practical tips to keep on time, whilst finding and managing contractors confidently.
