At HURST + GILLANDERS we are passionate about good design. We want to help you create a home that you love and that most importantly works for you and the way you live. We offer a friendly, flexible and tailored service allowing you to use our expertise in exactly the way that suits you best. We firmly believe in working collaboratively with you to produce comfortable, contemporary design that you won’t grow tired of. Our aim is to help you enjoy your home and make the most out of every inch of space that you have. We don’t believe in reproducing a particular style or look but rather in mixing old and new and working with colour to enhance your existing pieces in order to create not just beautiful but fun and interesting spaces that reflect your personality and lifestyle. We understand that not everyone is looking for a full interior design service so please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements. We offer a number of services including individual room packages, colour schemes, furniture choices, bespoke design and full renovation and management service. As part of these services we can provide scaled plans and elevations, 3D computer images as well as hand drawn perspectives in order for you to fully visualise the space and what it will become.

We would highly recommend Hurst and Gillanders. We started with a blank canvas and wouldn’t have been able to put anything together if it wasn’t for their vision and knowledge. Emma totally pinpointed what we needed and was able to provide us with wonderful hand drawn, to-scale layouts so we could envisage the rooms before committing to the furniture, colours and styles. I would also say that although we were working remotely, we found them very flexible and patient with our demands while being able to present us with lots of options. Thank you Hurst and Gillanders - we are so happy!

We had used Emma and Tamsin previously on a kitchen project, so had no hesitation using them again. We were undertaking a project covering 3 bedrooms (adult and 2 girls' room), hall and 2 bathrooms. They were superb in working with us to develop plans for each room, and providing great recommendations for paint colours, fabrics, furniture etc. Not only that, they co-ordinated all the quotes, found us a great builder/project manager and gave us the confidence that the end result would be exactly what we wanted. We are extremely happy with the work they have done, the solutions they have come up with and all their recommendations. They have been very conscious about our budget and delivered every recommendation to sit within it. They have a real skill in being able to see the potential in any space, and coming up with options that others (including us) just wouldn't think of. All in all, Tamsin and Emma have reduced the stress (and time) associated with a project like this and we will be using them again on our next project. We would fully recommend them. Matt and Claire

I worked with Tamsin to completely redesign my through-lounge, hallway, stairs, and a loft en suite. I needed a “flow” through the house to link the spaces together, and I needed inspiration, as my new home clearly hadn’t been redecorated in a long time and I was finding it hard to see past the brown carpets and cream walls. Tamsin brought a fabulous tonal colour scheme and some really helpful mood boards that inspired me in finding new lights, furniture etc. She found the perfect tiles for the en suite and helped me source all the fittings - the small space now looks transformed. As for the stairs and hall, the wall colours are now complemented by a beautiful wool runner that she sourced, and based on the mood boards I decided on an oak herringbone wood floor in the hallway and living room. Tamsin was extremely responsive to all my questions throughout, guiding when I needed it and finding suppliers and products. I’m so glad I chose Hurst & Gillanders - for a very reasonable price they helped me achieve everything I was hoping for in my refurbishment. I’m so happy with the result and would unhesitatingly recommend this company!

After three years of living in our new build house, the open plan kitchen/diner/living room space still felt stark and cold and I had no idea how to go about fixing it. I knew I needed help and spoke to a couple of local firms but after chatting through what I wanted to achieve with Tamsin, she really understood the feel I was looking for. After exchanging emails, Tamsin sent me a room layout proposal that I implemented the same day which transformed the room. We then spent some time discussing colours, fixtures and fittings and Tamsin came to the house to get a sense of our taste and measure the space. We are absolutely delighted with the end result, I would never have been able to achieve the same look and feel alone and Tamsin gave me confidence to go with some bolder choices. We are looking forward to working with Hurst + Gillanders when we're ready to tackle the other difficult room in our house!

Tamsin and Emma were amazing! We had an ambitious project converting Victorian flats to modern, four storey family home with rear and side extension. They were open to exploring all of the possibilities for the space so that we couldmake sure that we had the best possible design for us as a family. They were creative and extremely responsive to any suggestions that we had. After the initial involvement of the architects to take the project through planning, Hurst + Gillanders began the redesign of the interior. They reconfigured the space so that the main kitchen living area, now on the lower ground floor, became connected to the rest of the house via a double height void and new stairs. We are thrilled with the bespoke joinery, furniture choices and the lovely colour scheme. Hiring Hurst +Gillanders was one of the best decisions we made and we are delighted with the fabulous outcome. They were always really accommodating and delivered on time and in budget. We have been blown away by the results and love our new home.

Tamsin was a pleasure to work with. From our detailed discussions and my Pinterest boards, Tamsin just ‘got’ our style and each time she shared her design ideas with us, I was so impressed. We have used them on 2 occasions - a flat renovation project in 2013 and again, more recently during a house renovation and are so pleased with the finished results on both projects. They were superstars - lovely, professional and we totally recommend them. We would definitely use them again in the future.

Emma and Tamsin did an incredible job designing and project managing the extension and refurbishment of our Edwardian end of terrace. They used their experience and natural talent to present a layout, design and finish that gave us everything we had hoped for from the project. We were presented with some fabulous options that have made our home unique and very much ours. We love the increased space and natural light with the added luxury of a polished concrete floor and a beautiful kitchen designed just for us. I would not hesitate to recommend Hurst and Gillanders, they deliver an excellent service and are a delight to work with.

Hurst and Gillanders were really helpful with my kitchen planning and design. First of all they helped me to look at the entire space and what sized island and until it could take. They shared ideas using Pinterest and this got some ideas going. Phone calls aided the process and the high level plan brought to life the thinking. We had various iterations and managed to to do this remotely. Great to work with and I would highly recommend them.

Hired Emma and Tamsin for some initial thoughts on improving the storage and layout of my kitchen, without changing all the kitchen units. They have come up with some great and imaginative suggestions depending on my budget. Just need to make a decision now!
