Jane has been helping me renovate and redecorate our large house and I can’t speak highly enough about her. She has gently steered me through this journey and when I might have veered towards a more conservative colour palette, she has encouraged me to be bolder and I love the results. She’s professional, thoughtful and encouraging. She has great ideas and a useful address book for trades people.

We recently purchased a three bedroomed apartment in a listed building in Clifton, Bristol. It needed complete renovation and as we were not local the project was daunting. Finding Jane Bates was a breath of fresh air. Jane is a true professional in her field and has some excellent contacts in the local Bristol area which helped us on so many levels. She guided us through the project with passion and enthusiasm always being conscious of the budget we had in mind. Using her enviable skills Jane worked closely with us matching some of our ideas with her clearly better professional ones! We could not have created this special home without her. Jane exudes style and never ceases to amaze me with the variety and practicality of her applications. Over the years, Jane has done a number of projects for us including our living room and teenage son’s bedroom, plus much valued advice in other areas. Most recently she helped us with the styling and prep of our holiday let, Darley House in Derbyshire, for a photo shoot. It’s a large house, sleeping 14 with 6 bedrooms and 5 reception rooms. Jane was able to refresh the styling just by re-positioning and playing with what we already had, plus some exquisite attention to detail and placement of brightly coloured accent items. All these touches created a stylish, cosy and inviting ambiance, which came through in the photos. Our photographer was so impressed he included some extra photos and most of all we had such fun together. Jane is a “can do” person and loves a challenging design problem. She has a wealth of ideas and resources to offer but most importantly, she will create a unique solution to suit your family, your lifestyle and your home.

Jane has given me invaluable advice and support with a number of interior design projects over the last 15 years. These have included an 8-bedroom house and my further recent purchase of a 3-bedroom house. This house has now been extended to 5 bedrooms and throughout the whole process Jane has provided advice on everything from moving walls to buying furniture, from carpets to light fittings as well as colour schemes and soft furnishings. Jane always takes into account the budget, timing and family living when providing advice and suggestions to ensure a harmonious outcome. I would have no hesitation in using Jane for future projects or recommending her to family or friends.

Jane gave us advice on our ground floor interiors from overall layout and helping us with the flow and purpose, through to the appropriate sizing of large furniture items and then into detailed design. Full of ideas and very responsive, Jane challenged our thinking (constructively) and really helped us make the most of our space - she was also very skilled at balancing inputs from both of us even when views differed!

When we moved into our first home together last year the decor was tired and really dated. Whilst we had ideas we didn’t have full confidence to implement them. Jane offered to ‘design from a distance’, provided us with plan drawings, suggested furniture styles, fabric combinations and paint colours for us to consider and all within our budget. In short the confidence to create a modern home that we love and which functions perfectly. We will definitely look to use Jane again in the future.

I hired Jane to remodel my bedroom and dressing area before we were due to start some major renovations on the house - I needed a quiet, calm space to retreat to and that is exactly what Jane designed for me. I was so impressed with the result that I continued to use her services throughout the house - hallway, cloakroom, dining room, family area. I used a number of her recommended contacts for soft furnishings, carpets, curtains, lights, bespoke furniture - all excellent (except, to be honest, for the carpet fitter who was extremely disappointing). Jane has excellent taste, listens well to her clients' ideas and translates these ideas into practical, well thought out, beautiful spaces. Would highly recommend.
